My body tense up, I swallowed the saliva in my mouth. I licked my lips twice, glancing at the portrait and back at the wolf in front of me. How was I going to fight this thing without help?
I slid the keys into my mouth, reversing with each step it took closer. The wolf paused as if it was studying my movement. It bored its fangs. A deep growl escaped its chest.
My heart dropped into my guts, my stomach flipped. The pain returned. I felt a sharp piercing burn in my thigh. Beads of sweat cuddled up on my face. No matter how hard I wanted to scream, I couldn't. My mind raced with so many questions, what if there were many more coming? I wouldn't even be able to take it down.
