Hyptonized

AMELIA'S POV "Is there a reason you keep talking to her?" Lindsey questions her boyfriend. It's so tempting to look back at them,I want to see his reaction. Is he furious? I would be disappointed if he isn't. A teacher enters the room and saves me from the mistake of turning my head to look at him. I still listen to everything they say though. "You don't decide who I talk to. And never again interrupt my conversation or there will be consequences!" I hear him hiss at her. She doesn't utter another word in response. She remains quiet like a little girl that has been reprimanded by her father. It's weird how she and her group treats him like he is some kind of King. Also follows him around like he is their oxygen. I can feel Lindsey's glare on the back of my head even as I keep pretending to have all my attention focused on the teacher in front of the class. I take out my pen and start taking notes that I don't need just so my eyes can have something to concentrate on. Then the man behind me starts humming a strange song in a low and most beguiling voice. The softness of his it is so soothing that it sounds unrealistic. I could listen to it every hour of my life and not regret missing out on everything else. I suddenly start feeling like I am falling away into a different world where it's only me and his voice that exists. My eyes starts to close and I feel a strong urge to lean back on my seat so I can be closer to him. Am I being hypnotized? I try to resist it but it's impossible as long as he is still humming. I feel helpless. "Nate you need to stop." I hear Lindsey speak. Her voice sounds distant and hollow. Her boyfriend stops the humming and I immediately fall back to reality. I look around and realise that everyone is comfortably watching the teacher in front of the class. The man seated next to me must have been listening to the enticing voice as well, but it appears like he didn't get entranced like me. Maybe I enjoyed it too much. He smiles as he waves a hand in front of my face. "Are you okay?" I nod my head even though I feel like running out of here. What on earth had his voice done to me? "How many times do I need to warn you against interrupting me?" He hisses at his girlfriend. "I just thought that . . . you're making a mistake." She answers in a submissive voice. "And you think that it's your job to stop me?" He questions, his angry voice menacing enough to make all of us recoil in fear. "Sorry . . . sir." She answers in a quavering voice. He snorts, doesn't speak again. But I can feel his gaze on me and it makes me shiver. There is no doubt that his humming was hypnotizing me. That is why his girlfriend asked him to stop. Did she do it to protect me? No of course. She just doesn't like her boyfriend's attention on anyone else. She can always have him. I am no longer interested in someone so strange and arrogant. He may as well be a beautiful devil. It's the most uncomfortable lesson I have ever sat out. I sigh in relief when the bell finally rings. I pick up my bag and rush out of the class without looking back at any of the people that had sat around me. I few shocked faces stare at me as run to the door in front everyone else. But I don't care. I just want to get away from those two weird people. I am the second to arrive in my next class, chemistry to be exact. I don't like it, which is why I am tempted to sit at the back. But I think Lindsey and her minions would sit at the back too and I want to be as far as possible from them. I also can't risk having that beautiful freak sit near me again and hum his strange song. I look at the only other person in the class, a girl in a blue dress seated at the front. She also got a pair of glasses on. So far she is the first girl I have seen that is dressed in a dress that reaches her knees. I have never tried to make friends before. But she looks approachable. If I can seat by her side, I am sure the seats behind us will be fully occupied by the time Mr. Beautiful And Strange arrives. I make my way to her, she looks up and smiles when she notices me approaching. "Hi. Can I sit with you?" I ask, feeling like the most awkward person on earth. Her smile broadens. "Of course, I would honestly feel honoured." She strangely says. I take the seat with a grateful smile. "I am Amelia." I say. "I already know that. You're the new girl that Nate Rowan likes. Congratulations!" She says with a huge grin as if having that arrogant man's attention is the biggest achievement one can ever have. I am curious to know exactly who he is so I do my best to act interested. "Is he . . . ? " "Rich? Yeah." She answers the question I had not asked. "He may not look like it, but sometimes he dresses more expensive than your home is worth." "Huh . . .what?!" I exclaim and she chuckles. No wonder he is so arrogant. Lindsey and her group are not some fools that are craving for his attention just because he is ridiculously gorgeous. There is more to gain from following him around. "You think he is a good person?" I ask. "He is a perfect person." She answers with absolute certainty. "He is one of those people that makes this world a better place by simply existing. God made him well and gave him everything except my phone number." I laugh at her sense of humour even though it sounds like she got a mad crush on him. I wonder how many more girls feel the same. He obviously wouldn't care. "I am Lana Gibsons by the way." The girl finally introduces herself formally.
