2 months to WAEC.

The whole of Hamshat Delight was tense.

No more gist in class. No more Back of Lab hangouts.

Just textbooks, past questions, and midnight reading.

TARA was in the library with SOHEEH, FEMI, KIKKY, DAVID, SOPHIA, IFE, TEMI, OKIKI, KATE.

"The Stars" had become a reading squad.

CHIKA was vlogging from her desk. "HDH fam, this is serious season. Fikayo’s dad is in prison. Sefirah is expelled. But The Stars? We’re not breaking. We’re breaking records."

OKIKI yawned. "Aunty, my brain is breaking o. Chemistry is fighting me."

KATE slapped his textbook. "Read! Or you’ll repeat and I’ll leave you!"

OKIKI: "God forbid!"

MISS JUMMY walked in. "Listen to me. No expo. No shortcuts. The Principal said if anyone is caught, the whole class will repeat. Do you hear me?"

ALL: "Yes ma!"

That night, Tara couldn’t sleep.

She sat on the balcony.

Soheeh joined her with two cups of Milo.

"Scared?" he asked.

"Terrified," Tara whispered. "What if we fail after everything?"

Soheeh took her hand. "Then we fail together. But we won’t. We prayed. We read. We chose right."

Tara leaned on his shoulder. "Bitter sweet."

"Mostly sweet," Soheeh smiled. "Because we have each other."

Her phone buzzed.

Unknown number.

`Tara, I’m sorry. I messed up. - Fikayo`

Tara stared at it. Didn’t reply.

Just locked her phone and whispered, "God, help us all."

Outside, the school was quiet.

In 2 months, everything would change.
