What are the chances? What are the f*****g chances?
Her reaction when she heard his name. Her reluctance to tell me anything. I put everything together in my head on the ride up to the address she’d gotten. I didn’t bother questioning her. There was no chance she was looking for Pelton to try and help him. We were both trying to take him down. The only question now was what her reason was. Another thought was also constantly bouncing around inside my head: What wasn’t she telling me, and why wasn’t she telling me it?
I didn’t have much time to think about it, though. I was tearing up the pavement so hard and fast that it didn’t take us long for us to close in on the location.
“There!” she shouted. “It should be around that hill in the distance!”
