Brian’s POV
Zen and Mark were out early investigating what we discussed in the park. Able was in his office working on Clan paperwork and I was in my room working on homework. My phone vibrated and I checked to see who it was.
“Boss, we got some news for you.” Zen texted.
“I’m on my way.” I texted back.
I met up with Zen and Mark on the border of our territory.
“What did you find?” I asked curiously.
“We did some patrols near the school and surrounding areas. Went to the library and researched the history of the town. Turns out back in the late 1800’s this town used to be a training ground for vampire hunters. There was a society called the Blood Raven’s. They were run and operated by James and Silas Raven. The group was formed solely on the purpose of hunting vampires and was the biggest group on the East Coast.”
“Did you find any current news? Are they still operating?”
“Not in the library but I was able to track down some info within the school’s computer. Turns out the Raven’s bloodline is still alive to this day. The society is disbanded but there is a small group that operates undercover within the town. Which explains why this town was never claimed by other clans. I was able to hack into the school’s computer files to find there is one child of the descendants but when I clicked on it, it was blank. No trace or history available.”
“Hm. Something’s off. I said thinking through the information. It does not make sense. Why would such a huge society be disbanded. It wasn’t even around for long.
“Thank you.” I say to Zen and Mark.
I get home and find Able sitting at the counter.
“Brian, we need to talk.” His voiced sounded angry.
“Where were you Friday night?”
“I was out with Zen and Mark. We went hunting.”
“Were you anywhere near the park?”
“No…why?” My voice trailed off.
“I got a call from Officer Jones. He said two girls came into the police station and complained about a group of guys exchanging what looked like to be a white powder in a bag.”
“No sir, I was not there.”
“It’s funny because the descriptions they gave were exactly of Zen and Mark.”
I froze. I do not recall anyone at the park that night when we were there. Zen double checked the perimeter. Unless we missed something.
“Brian, you need to be careful. Why were you hunting near a park? You should keep hunting to our territory only. All the other members must follow this rule. What makes you think you are excluded from that? With that being said, you are banned from the park altogether and that is NOT up for discussion.”
‘Whatever.” I say walking past Able.
Before I knew it, I was slammed against up against the wall with such force even I was taken back.
“I’m sick of your attitude as well!” He snarled his eyes glowing a shade of red I have never seen before. I knew I must have really gotten to him lately because Able rarely looses his cool. I felt his grip loosen around my throat.
“Where did you go early?”
“I went to visit Zen and Mark.”
“Why? Tell me the truth Brian.” He demanded.
“I asked them to do extra patrols around the school after I caught an unknown scent. They looked into the history of the town and found that it use to be a training ground for vampire hunters.”
“What else?”
“We discovered a society called the Blood Ravens and that there is one descendant left but we could not figure out who. The files came back empty.”
Able released his grip and I landed on the ground.
“Don’t go poking your nose into this type of stuff. It does not involve you.”
“Did you know about this when we moved here?” I asked waiting for Able’s answer.
“I know a lot of things but you are not ready to hear the answers. Just know that I am aware of a lot of things. That being one of them. They are not against us. Do not go snooping into things you think you may know. Brian this is an order.” Able said firmly.
“What do you mean? When will I be ready to hear the answer?”
“When you find her.” He started to walk back up to his office.
“Wait. Who is her?”
“Once you find her. Then I will tell you everything.” Making it known that that was the end of the discussion.
I stood there blankly struggling to comprehend what had just happened.
