My wrists burned beneath the cold iron shackles. The chains rattled softly every time I moved, the sound echoing through the enormous underground chamber.
They had chained me because if I died...It would be easier to drag my body back out.
The thought sent another wave of fear crashing through me. I pulled against the chains instinctively before stopping.
There was no escaping especially not from him. The air smelled of damp stone and iron.
Torches flickered along the walls, their flames barely reaching the darkness ahead.
A low growl, Deep and Heavy.
The kind of sound that didn't belong to any ordinary wolf.
My heart slammed painfully against my ribs.
Slowly...A massive shadow emerged from the darkness.
The beast, He was enormous twice the size of any wolf I'd ever seen his black fur shimmered beneath the torchlight while glowing silver markings crawled across his body like living veins.
His eyes were silver.
Cold and Furious.
The Heavy iron chains wrapped around his neck, his forelegs and hind legs, each one as thick as my arm yet every time he tried to attack me the chains screamed against the stone floor.
The iron bolts holding the chains inside the walls groaned. The guards standing outside the chamber immediately stepped back.
Even they were afraid.
The beast threw back his head a deafening roar exploded through the chamber as dust rained from the ceiling. I squeezed my eyes shut.
This was the monster every kingdom feared and warned their children about.
The one every Luna before me had faced...before dying a tear rolled down my cheek.
" We are going to die." My wolf whimpered inside me.
Every part of me wanted to curl into a ball and cry, Every instinct screamed at me to run but there was nowhere to run.
The fear inside me turned into something else If death wanted me...It would have to come looking.
I wiped away my tears.
Then I took one step towards the beast as it lowered his head his silver eyes locked onto mine and suddenly his growl faded.
My legs trembled so badly I thought they would give out beneath me as the chains around my wrists clinked with every movement.
I was close enough now to feel his warm breath against my skin.
He was beautiful and Terrifying as it stared at me. My hand slowly lifted as It trembled uncontrollably.
"Please don't kill me..." I could barely breath as my fingertips hovered just above his chest for one terrifying heartbeat... I touched it as my warmth spread beneath my fingertips.
The beast froze as the savage rage burning inside those silver eyes disappeared Instead he let out the softest whimper Like a frightened puppy.
The entire chamber fell silent.
Even the guards stopped breathing as the beast leaned into my touch.
His enormous head lowered until it rested against my shoulder.
"What..." My voice barely came out. It Silver eyes lifted to meet mine there was no hatred in them now only exhaustion, Pain and Loneliness.
The glowing markings racing across his body suddenly began to fade as the massive body trembled violently.
I heard it's bones shifted as the beast slowly shrank before my eyes.
The chains crashed loudly against the stone floor as fur disappeared, claws became hands, and the monstrous wolf gradually gave way to a man.
Draven.
He staggered forward as though every ounce of strength had been drained from him.
Before I could react...His arms wrapped tightly around me.
The sudden embrace stole the breath from my lungs.
I froze as my heart pounded wildly against my chest.
His forehead rested against my shoulder as though he had finally found something he'd been searching for.
I didn't know what to do.My trembling hands lifted between us.
I tried to pull away immediately I looked up as Every guard in the chamber was staring at us in absolute horror.
One of them whispered, his voice barely audible,
"...Impossible." A cold chill ran down my spine as my pulse quickened.
Oh no...
What have I done?
