*Gray*
As I left Daisy's bedroom, I thought about how afraid she had looked when I startled her. I don't know what exactly she's been through, but I'd like to learn more about her. I don't want it to be a common occurance to scare her like that, and if I could learn her triggers, than it wouldn't happen anymore.
I shut the door to the guest bedroom, and stripped down to my boxers, as I crawled under the covers of the bed. I let the thought of Daisy carry me into a blissful slumber, until the next morning came around.
I woke up Sunday morning, feeling refreshed, ready to begin the new changes in my life. I needed to contact a moving company, and see the soonest they can begin. Until then, I'm going to start packing things myself. This move couldn't happen soon enough.
I hopped in a shower, and dressed in basketball shorts and a plain white T-shirt. As I walked out of my bedroom, I noticed Daisy's door was already open. I walked passed her bedroom and peeked inside to find it empty.
I walked downstairs, and into the kitchen, where Daisy and Alexa were sitting at the kitchen table drinking coffee. Daisy had her curly blonde hair tossed up into a messy bun on top of her head, with a silk robe wrapped around her petite body. They both looked over at me, smiling, but Daisy was also blushing. I smirked, joining them at the table with my own cup of coffee.
"Good morning, ladies." I said, sitting beside Daisy.
"Good morning," They both said simulatenously, giggling with each other.
"What's the plan for today, boss?" Alexa asked.
"I'm going to start packing some things, but I'll hire an actual company to come out here, and do the rest." I replied.
"Good morning, everyone." Alistair said, entering the kitchen.
"Good morning." We all replied in unison.
"Sir," Alistair said, standing beside me, "Can I speak with you for a moment?"
I nodded, standing up and leaving the kitchen. I followed Alistair to the entrance of the penthouse, where two gentleman were standing. Both of them were equally as buff as Alistair, and I assumed they were the other guards he hired. I shook their hands, and brought them into my office by the dining room.
"This is Rome," Alistair pointed to the man with dark short hair, "And this is Casimir."
Casimir had light brown hair, and light skin, whereas Rome had tan skin and dark short hair. Just as we were about to talk, Shwinn enters the office with some foulders in his hands. He hands them to me with a bright smile, and leaves without another word. I open them and notice they're the background checks on Rome and Casimir, and they're both cleared. I smiled at the two men sitting in front of me, Alistair did a good job. They both have plenty of experience, and aren't affiliated with my family.
"It's nice to meet you gentleman, and thank you for coming." I started, "Alistair, did you tell them what exactly they'll be doing?"
"I explained the situation, sir." Alistair nodded.
"Very good. If any of my family members show up, and I'm not here, call me." I said, "We're moving into a bigger house, so until that happens, you'll sleep wherever you like."
"Sounds good." Rome nodded.
"Do you have any questions for me?" I asked, looking between the two of them.
"When should we arrive, and when should we leave?" Casimir asked.
"By eight in the morning, and ten at night, I'll double your pay for late hours." I responded.
"That's appreciated, sir." Casimir smiled.
"If you can start today, I'd appreciate it. I have a lot to take care of, and I want to make sure the house is safely secured." I added, hoping they'd agree.
"Sure thing." Rome smiled, and we shook hands once more.
"Alistair, what about Haedyn?" I asked, before everyone left.
"He took your offer, sir." Alistair responded, keeping it brief.
"I'll send a check." I said, as I motioned everyone out of the office.
We all left the office, and as I walked out I noticed Daisy watching me closely. I noticed her expression change, as she glanced at Rome and Casimir. Her eyebrows lifted and furrowed, and her lips formed a small pout, was she concerned? I walked over to her, and stole her attention away from the other men.
"Can we talk?" I asked, standing beside her, as she remained seated at the kitchen table.
"Yeah..." She whispered, standing up, holding her cup of coffee close to her chest.
"Follow me." I said, walking out of the kitchen.
I lead her upstairs, past all of the bedrooms, to somewhere only I know about. I have a roof terrace on top of the penthouse, and it's somewhere I come when I want to be alone. There are a couple of couches, surrounded by tiki lights, as well as a square coffee table in the center. It overlooks the city down below, and has a beautiful view at night.
"This is beautiful." Daisy commented, as she walked out towards the couches.
"You're the only other person that knows about it." I said, following directly behind her.
"Why are you showing me this?" She asked, turning around with doe eyes.
"I just wanted to go somewhere peaceful," I said, realizing how I sounded, "Just to talk."
"About what?" She asked, and I could sense her hesitation.
"I've noticed something about you," I treaded carefully, "something I hate."
"Oh?" She looked suprised, and nervous.
"I can tell you're afraid of men," I said, watching her shock disappear, "I want to prove to you that not all men are like the ones you've met."
"Why?" She asked, squinting her eyes with agitation, "I don't understand why you're treating me this way..."
"You act like it's upsetting..." I pointed out, pissing her off even more with my smirking.
Daisy growled and walked further away from me, "I'm afraid it's some sick joke."
"You think I'm going to change my mind?" I asked, confused.
"Yeah... or you just get some twisted sick pleasure of f*****g with me, getting me to trust you, and ripping it out from under my feet when I do trust you." Daisy spouted, her temper rising rather quickly.
"I see," I nodded, inching closer to her, "Well, you and I both know verbal promises don't mean shit... so I won't waste my breath anymore, but I will prove otherwise with my actions."
"What about all those other men that you've brought into the house?" She questioned, and I realized she felt out numbered.
"Those men are hired to protect you, Daisy." I calmly responded, stepping even closer.
By this time, I was just two feet away from her, and she hadn't noticed, until now. I watched as she drew a breath in, and refused to let it out. I reached my hand forward, and placed it on her shoulder, as her entire body froze. I knew it would take some time for her to become comfortable around me, but I never realized just how damaged she was. Even though I haven't hurt her, she's still inclined to feel apprehensive around me.
"Breathe," I whispered, and the second I did, she was collapsing in my arms.
I carried her over to one of the couches, where I sat down, with her on my lap. I had her cradled in one arm, while her legs were resting on the other side of the couch. She looked up at me, confused, and slowly made eye contact. She stared deeply into my eyes, and I couldn't look away.
"That's what you said the first day we met." She muttered, dragging her finger across my jaw.
"It's a nasty habit of yours," I chuckled, "Do I always take your breath away?"
"Yes..." She whispered, and I felt myself growing excited.
I lifted her off of my lap, and set her on the couch beside me. I have to be so careful with Daisy. I almost just kissed her, and that would have led to s*x within seconds. I took a deep breath and led her back downstairs, where we departed ways.
I didn't plan on avoiding her for the rest of the day, it just kind of worked out that way. I focused on packing things up, and stealing little glimpses of her here and there. Deep down I know, I want her, and that's a dangerous game to play. I know I usually get what I want, but this time I have to refrain from it, and I have never done that before.
