Vanessa yawned lazily on her bed the next morning. Birds chirped in the air and it was cold. She stirred and sat upright under the quilt. She had a very good night's sleep, unlike the night before her mating ceremony.
As she rubbed her face, something felt strange on her. She stared at it for a few seconds. Her mating band was on her finger. Memories of the night before flooded her.
When the Alpha had shown her the door, she was surprised that all this while, a door connected their rooms and she hadn't known. She had always thought the door in her room led to another part of the castle.
Relief coursed through her when the Alpha had told her to go. She was happy that he didn't force himself on her or that they hadn't done something they'd regret later.
