Jesse sent the carrier pigeon with a letter tied to its legs to Vanessa. He had waited long enough to get her answer. If he didn't work on her, she would not easily give in. He sent the bird and stood back to watch it go. Vanessa stood up from bed to close her window before she settled back into her bed to read a new book which she had found in the library. She yawned, stretched and approached the window when the bird flew and landed on the windowsill. Vanessa flinched. Then she took her hand to her chest. She was scared. Her heart had almost gone out of her. She exhaled and regained her composure. She untied the letter and it flew away. What else did Jesse want? She peeped outside the window and moved her head back inside to close her window. Then she went to her bed and sat on it.
