The pain is in no way describable. And as they whisk Clay away to put on the right clothing, they help me to get onto a surgery table-bed-thing. It’s cool under my skin, but almost everything is better than having to sit on the other bed any longer…
“My water broke…” I look at the wet spot on the other bed.
The nurse shrugs a little. “Happens all the time. Water is the least of the things we have to worry about.” He winks a little and I’m not sure I want to even think about what the other things are that they have to clean up out of beds…
