I’m still a little shaken by what just happened, what I just saw, what I just prevented. But I know that it will be okay. We’ll be fine. This will turn out okay.
Seeing Clay lose it, release his fury, that was really scary and I’m so glad that I’d walked to the front, to see him before the others. Or this may have ended totally differently.
“Aid.” Felix is standing in front of me. “Time to go.” His voice is soft, his eyes guarded.
I nod. “Yeah.” I don’t want him to leave, not now. But I also know that he needs to. Felix needs to go back to college, back to his classes and finish his degree. I can help him along the way, but he needs to do that himself.
