“I heard from Mum. Congratulations on getting pregnant again!” Mummy’s voice is a little too cheerful and I’m sure I already told her about Aiden’s pregnancy.
“Thanks…” f**k. I didn’t really think about what I was going to say.
“It can’t be easy, so soon. Do you need help?” She somehow makes it easier on me.
“Yes. We do.”
“Of course. I’d love to stop by for a few days. Are you sure it’s not too much with Wes there too?” Her voice changes just a little, and then I hear a door close. “I’m coming over as soon as possible.” Her voice is normal now.
“Mummy?” My chest feels heavy. What am I pulling her into?
“I’m going to pack my bag, and I’ll be right over. We’ll talk when I see you.”
“Thank you.” I’m not sure how I can ever thank her enough.
