I happily drank a large bowl of porridge and ate plenty of pan-fried dumplings. I was about to eat more when Dylan stopped me. "Don't overeat—you'll feel stuffed. If you like them, I'll make more tomorrow." I finally put down my chopsticks. After resting a while, Dylan and I got ready for my prenatal checkup. When he went to get his things, I waited by the door—only to run into someone I never expected to see. —War. The moment he saw me, his eyes were red-rimmed, his voice ragged. "Eve, I've finally found you." I froze, my smile vanishing instantly. War rushed forward and crushed me in a terrifyingly tight embrace. "Do you know how scared I was? I thought you were on that flight, I thought you... Thank God, thank God you're safe." Hot tears burned my shoulder where they fell.
