*Barkley* It was a mistake to dance with her. Standing in a darkened corner of the terrace, striving to cool my ardor, I know it will be. From the moment I saw her standing in the entry hallway, so beautiful, so poised, I knew I should not approach her. Yet I was unable to resist. I wanted to see her smile as I’ve not seen her smile since my arrival, as I suspect she’s not smiled since the night I brought the news of the accident. But I remember her smile on the night before she married, when she danced with Seafort. Not a single star in the heavens could outshine her eyes. Tonight it took a while, but eventually she succumbed to the lure of the music and the motion of our bodies following where the rhythm leads. I could dance with her all night, but this one dance is scandalous enough.
