I stared at my phone and willed it to ring. To light up. Anything really. Anything that gave me the green light to get ready for this event.
It was pointless, though. The event hadn’t been for hours yet, but I couldn’t stare at that feed any longer. The moment he let her go and I knew Nellie was there, I had to pull myself away from it. At first, I lied to myself and convinced myself I was only looking away for a moment to send a text to express my gratitude.
