The return

She found herself in the hall again but this time, the moon goddess was standing before her, with her beautiful pet wolf beside her, as though she had been waiting all this while for her. "Took you long enough, Clare dear" She beamed at her. Clare's eyes widened when she saw the her older look alike. "Mother?" A soft smile lit up her already glowing face. "Yes, daughter?" Clare shook her head clearly not sold. She closed her eyes trying to regain her mental equilibrium. "This is not real, it is only a figment of my imagination. My birth mother is not the the mother of the moon. Now snap back to your senses, Clare." When she opened her eyes, there was no one but the lazing white wolf. It looked up at her with its black as sin eyes then proceeded to lick it's paw like a cat. "Boo!" Clare jumped and turned back to see the moon goddess giggling at her from behind. Clare rolled her eyes. The moon goddess playing hide and seek with her? now she knew that she was making this up for sure! "Oh but I am very playful. Wolves get all their very nature from me." Clare raised both eyebrows in surprise "Wait, I didn't say that out loud. How did you...?" She paused and scoffed "I'm making you up in my head, of course you know what I'm thinking. Crap, I didn't realize I was this desperate for company." The smile on her "mother's" face never wavered. "It's not a bad thing to want company. I created werewolves because I wanted company and I ran with the first of my creatures through the forest with the wind in our fur." Clare stared with her jaw hanging loose at the evidence of her desperation. "I can't believe you... actually I can not believe myself." The lips curled in a smile pressed into a thin line. "I sense that you still do not believe me so I'll prove it, but there would be consequences." Clare was not at all moved since she still believed that she was the one that made it all up. "Your parents will return in two weeks time. When they do, they will bring a medium to unite you to your parents in a lunar bond." Clare pursed her lips. "And the consequence?" "I would withhold my full blessings until the shedding of blood." Clare frowned "What does that mean?" "You will figure it out, daughter. You would not see me again until all these are fulfilled." Clare had not given that dream much thought since that night. Her aunt had told her that her mother was not a goddess so, that was enough for her. Since then, she had taken her mind off it. The fact that she no longer had dreams of the white and gold hallway was her finally coming back to her senses after threatening herself. No biggie! Her training with Hunter continued the rest of the week Her day went kind of like : Wake up. Get ready and be picked up in a dashing vehicle. Lunch break training which had progressed into the actual defensive part, not offense yet. After school, Hunter drops her at her aunt's, she studies the rest of the day and drop into a dreamless sleep. Wake up the next day and repeat. It was the weekend already, Clare had a lot of time on her hands and no one to talk to since her Aunt was in one of her dyeing moods so she sat in the living room and contemplated actually calling Hunter or not. Sure, he had given her his number over a week ago but she had never had a reason to use it. She wondered what he did with his time after school or during the weekends. Her never talked about his life much and she did not want to push either. Friendship was a new territory for her so she wasn't really clear about all the do's and don'ts. After making up and changing her mind about half a dozen times, she finally settled on texting him a "hi". She waited for several minutes watching the analogy clock display on her phone home screen but he didn't reply or even check the message. Clare huffed wishing she had the liberty to throw her phone across the room but knowing she could not afford a new one, she wisely put her phone down on the couch then throw her fist and feet in frustration. Maybe he was really busy? But she was so bored. She then remembered the book her aunt had asked her to read. Prometheus and Pandora, she said. After their cry fest on that day, she forgot about the books. She took one and began to read. Her mind soon wandered as she remembered her dream for the night her adoptive parents left the pack, two weeks today to be exact. She would finally know if the dream was legit or not. If her parents arrived today, she would know that she was not going insane. If they did not, she would have to tell her Aunty about the dreams, she would probably have a herb for that. "...but there would be consequences." The stern voice of her dream Moon goddess sent a shiver through her. What did she mean that she would withhold her full blessings until the shedding of blood. What was the shedding of blood? Clare shook her head and tried to refocus on what she was reading, it was nonsense that she needed to stop torturing herself over. After minutes of futile attempts at reading, she put the book away for later. She told her aunty that she was going for a run. Clare stripped down in her aunt's kitchen and changed into her wolf, then went through the backdoor into the woods. She ran and ran happy to be in her most natural form. She felt like closer to nature as a wolf than in her human form and it always saddened her how inferior the others made her feel as an Omega. She had learned to ignore their harsh comments. Once she was in this skin, she could see better, clearer than ever, she could hear every sound for miles, she could smell even the dew on the leaves. And it was a beautiful feeling, the cool breeze rushing past roaring in her ears as though she the woods itself was whispering to her. She saw a butterfly and chased it with a playful yip. The butterfly seemed to understand her playful gesture and flew higher than she could reach, flying lower at times to tease her. By the time she made it to her favorite sport beside a tree by the pack land river, she was well exhausted and free from her worries. She walked to the river to stare back at her reflection. Her wolf's black eyes stared at her, her coffee coat and strong legs for running. She liked herself and no one could make her feel any different. She walked back to lay down under a tree shade to take a brief nap before she returned back. "Clare, Clare." Clare woke up with a start at the sound of her voice. It was already getting sunset and getting dark around her. How long had she slept? There was no one in sight, so who had called her? The sound of paws hitting the ground made her shoot to her feet ready to abscond at a moment's notice. The pack delta's wolf came into sight and approached her. Her was bigger than her with his black and brown coat but had been nicer to her in general so she didn't run off immediately. He came to her and nudged her twice with his snout before taking off in the direction of the pack house. Taking that as a signal to follow him she did. As the pack house came into sight, Clare remembered that the delta had gone with her adoptive parents on their last trip. That could only mean one thing, ...the Alpha and Luna were back.
