The First Overseer

The Snake couldn't stand the unbearable pain that it was being inflicted with and tried to break free, even raising its restrained head to try and bite the wolf. The Silvery White creature proceeded to leap from its position, and in doing so, it released another piercing howl which made the snake slam against the ground once again, stunned. Without hesitation, the wolf, with still shut eyes, raised its paw and made a quick s***h at the snake's head, decapitating it and ending its life. Shawn, who had watched all of this unfold, made three conclusions. One was that the wolf had somehow evolved into having silver-gray fur. Two was that it was good at attacking, and its sound wave howl showed that it was both a mana and physical energy user, which was, at the moment, very rare in the world. Three was that it had a skill that enabled it to fight and was also capable of sensing the enemy with its eyes closed showing that it was a very powerful wolf. "It seems as though this wolf has been learning jujitsu from somewhere." He thought. However, the next thing that brought surprise to his face was when the wolf went to the river and buried its head in, cleansing its eyes before opening them. Although not opened fully they still had a decent vision to provide for the surroundings. "Enduring that stinging pain till that moment, what kind of skill do you possess that made you resist poison?" He thought. "Wait, could it be," Before he knew it, the wolf proceeded to raise its two legs while standing on the other two hind legs, exhibiting bipedal traits. Though it was for a short moment, Shawn was already blown away by what he saw. "System what level is this wolf in?" (I forgot to add it to the story Shawn had been asked if he wanted to add levels for evolutions and he replied Yes) *The wolf reached the level 25 recently.* "What level was the snake?" He probed again. *Level 18* "No wonder. The snake was asking for death" He thought before laughing out. "At the same time, this wolf's skin is not native to the southeastern plains. How did it appear here?" *Wolf has a hidden evolution* "Wait, when, what, and how?" Shawn responded with a confused rhetoric. *Apparently, the wolf had undergone an evolution from birth after being born in a place with dense mana energy and being taught the use of physical energy by the clan.* "So the silvery white skin is because it evolved from birth? Then why didn't the parents absorb the mana?" *Parent's constitution and physical energy had already become densely effective on them so they could not absorb mana.* "Oh right. Their bodies might have already become used to physical energy so they couldn't absorb mana. Thanks for the hint system." *You're welcome* For a while, he was silent, pondering, "Apart from this wolf, how many more creatures have both mana and physical energy and are both in levels 22 to 25?" *Three more* "Show me" The screen in front suddenly zoomed and showed the life of a bear, cat, and crocodile. "Alright. This better be interesting. These four candidates are the best fit to be among the first Overseer, but first, I want to see who will reach levels 26 to 30." "System fast forward time to the next 10 years." *Processing.... Deducting 50 CP from the host.* And so the World had been fast-forwarded to 10 years later. The four images instantly changed to 2. The Croc and the Wolf were still left even after ten years and they evolved. The Wolf had gone forward to create its clan where some of its descendants had silvery brown skin as a result of genetics or possessed the latter color. However, only three out of the wolf clan had the pure silvery white hue of their clan founder. The Croc was in level 29 while the wolf was in level 27. The Croc happened to live in the western jungles of the southern continent, where it had found its pack of crocodiles. There was nothing really impressive about it except for clashing crocodiles all vying for the top spot and so on. The Wolf's clan, however, had both mana and physical energy users. The only one who was a pure user of both energies was the Wolf clan's founder. After weighing the pros and cons, Shawn decided to choose the wolf clan first as they had diversity, but the crocodile clan was not going to leave his sight. He wanted to see if they could still evolve and make something that he knew was worth it. Should crocodiles be able to use mana that will be cool. "System. How can I make an overseer?" *The host just has to open the panel button. Go to the overseer's tab and choose the intended creature to be made.* Shawn did as he was told, he opened the panel, pressed the world button, and clicked on the overseer's tab. Then, he clicked on add overseer, which allowed a visual view of his world. After searching for a few minutes, he finally found the wolf clan and they were situated around an open field with a cluster of rocks that majestically formed a cave. "The more reason why an overseer needs to be picked from their clan," he thought. "It will be a shame should the other races come and exterminate these wolves or drive them out." Shawn, using the view, entered the clan's location where he saw the founder wolf resting inside a big rock. He pointed his finger at the wolf, and a strange-looking string came out of his fingers before it sprung into the wolf's body. *You can now communicate with the chosen overseer.* The Wolf that was resting promptly stood from its position as soon as it saw Shawn. "Hello there, Young wolf," Shawn said, smiling. "Who are you?" The Wolf asked before it growled at the teenager. "Now, now, now. Is this how you treat the one who is going to make you stronger?" Shawn posed. The Wolf's eyes widened for a while after sensing something was off. It looked around and sensed that it was only itself that could see Shawn. It turned back and asked with an even greater ferocity, "Who exactly are you?" "The one who placed your ancestors into this world" Shawn replied. The wolf, upon receiving the reply, looked dazzled and asked with a skeptical tone, "You're the one who made my race?" "Not just your race. The entire realm that you currently live in." Upon hearing the reply again, the wolf's eyes widened, and it stood still, trying to access something before it bent its head. The surrounding wolves wondered what was wrong with their clan head. Had he gone nuts or something? "What can I do for you, Creator...." "Just address me as Master Shawn as you have caught my eye with your use of both mana and physical energy." "That shouldn't warrant your presence in this place. Surely I do not believe that there are not others stronger than me." "There are but both your clan's qualities and you made me come here." "Then may I ask why you are here? It can't be to just visit my clan." said the Wolf. "I have a gift to give you. Upon receiving this gift, you will have a prolonged life and become stronger than ever before," Simon dropped. "Just to be clear, there is a requirement and that is for you and your clan to guard this place for as long as I still say that you must remain. After all for your clan to dominate this region, it would not be easy at all" "I will ensure that I do as you have told me" "Good, in that case, there is no need to delay. Receive your gift" Shawn said right before he dashed and placed his finger near the wolf's forehead. A golden string shot out of his finger and into the spot. After the string had passed to come in contact with the wolf. It released a piercing howl as its skin began to glow, and it fell before it promptly rolled onto the ground. The wolves who watched this were wondering what exactly was wrong with their clan head and founder. After a few minutes, the wolf stopped rolling and stood up, revealing a pair of short, bright horns; its silvery white skin had become brighter, shining almost like the glow of the moon. "Thank you," He said before releasing a loud howl. "From now on you do not need to worry about your clan as you won't die that soon. You can still protect them for a much longer time. As long as you and your clan guard these plains you will flourish," "What is your name?" Shawn asked "I am Blan," "Good. Blan, if you can improve further and impress me with your skills, then I can give you and your race something special," Shawn said before he disappeared. "I will keep your words in mind," Blan said as he turned to face the other wolves. Meanwhile, Shawn appeared back in the empty room. "Why did you send me back I wasn't done yet?" *Host only wanted to choose an overseer not to have chitty chitty chat chat with a wolf* "Hey! What's wrong with chitty chitty chat chat." *Am I wrong?* "I do admit that I was quite getting into the flow until you ruined it" "..." "Next time unless I say we can go in my mind do not just pull me out like that" *Alright Sir.* "Good."
