Promontory Point is a man-made peninsula on the shore of Lake Michigan, and it offers one of the most encompassing views of the Chicago Skyline.
"I haven't been here before, I can tell you that much."
We choose one bench near the shore and sit there contemplating the view.
"It really is stunning." Nathaniel says after a while.
"It is. From the trees, to the lake, the skyline. Every time I come here I feel peace." That's true, when I first moved here this was my favorite spot to enjoy the afternoons and my solitude.
"Yes, I know what you say."
"It's pretty romantic and serene."
"Romantic huh?" Nathaniel says teasingly, making me blush. I didn't realize my choice of words until he questioned them, and even though, I didn't mean them in that way.
"You know what I mean."
"I do."
