BRITNEY'S POV
I looked at my mother, trying to decipher her expression. Her eyes seemed to hold a hint of curiosity, but also a warmth that made me feel like she was trying to protect me. I was about to ask her what was really going on when Daisy walked in, her bright smile and bubbly energy immediately filling the room.
“HI, girl!” Daisy exclaimed, her eyes locking onto mine with excitement. “I've missed you so much!”
My mother turned to her with a smile, her expression softening. “Hi, Daisy. It's been a while since you came over.”
Daisy bounced over to my mother, giving her a warm hug. “I know, Mrs. Preston. I've been so busy with school and stuff. But I promised Britney I'd come over so we can both get ready for the full moon ceremony together.”
