Chapter 3

1030 Words
"Oh, it's the live-in-son-in-law." Allen mocked and laughed out on seeing who it was. He is the son of a wealthy family in the city, which makes people respect him a lot because nobody wants to get on his bad side. He was also one of Riley's admirers, seeing Liam got him angry, he won't stop at nothing to bring him down. Liam shook his head and stepped forward, giving the impression of walking away. "Look, look, he is running away. Come on, real men don't behave like that." He said loudly, people around bursted into boisterous laughter. Liam laughed. "Why are you laughing?" Allen asked with furrowed brows. "Are you taking it out on me because Riley rejected you? She doesn't have anything to do with a lazy person and a spoiled brat who only depends on his father for money" he slammed and winked at him with his left eye. "How can he say such a thing? He should be arrested for that. That's so unfair. The crowd threw comments at him, Allen squeezed his face angrily. "Nobody has ever disgraced me the way he just did, I will make him pay for it" he muttered under his breath. Can I go now?" Liam asked in a mockery tone, pushed him aside and walked away. "You..." Allen shouted with gritted teeth, Liam tilted his neck a little bit to the back and smiled at him. He was happy he took his revenge in front of everybody "I will deal with that boy" Allen swore as he watched him leave. Riley and Evelyn gracefully walked into the Williams Mansion with smiles on their faces. The room was silent at their appearance. Riley was in a body con blue with stripes of yellow gown which made her shape more visible. When it comes to beauty, not many people can compete with her. Liam hurried in adjusting his shirt, he went back to park his scooter properly. Everybody bursted into laughter. It wasn't a surprise that he had become a laughing stock everywhere in the city. He ignored them and made to go sit with Riley when Nick stopped him. "This shirt looks new, I'm sure Riley must have given you money to buy it, such a shameless guy" he mocked, everybody bursted into another round of laughter. He lifted the shirt up a bit and tested the texture using his two fingers. "This doesn't cost more than 100 bucks, I'm so sure of that. Even if she gave you little money, you should have added to it to get a more appealing shirt...oh...you are a live in son in law" Everybody laughed again, this time Riley and her mother laughed. He looked at them. "This shirt doesn't cost more than a thousand dollars because it appears to be more fake than original" Liam slammed at him, Nick's smiley expression was replaced with a frown, everybody gasped out of shock. No one dares talk back at Nick because he was the grandmother's favorite, she will always believe anything he says concerning anybody. He had a company which was growing rapidly, he was worth more than half of the family members. "What gave you the audacity to talk to me? Do you even know the cost of this shirt? Aren't you ashamed of yourself?" He lashed words at him. "I agree to that, but I stand on my word that the shirt doesn't cost much" he stood firm on his word, Riley urged him to stop. "Must you cause a scene anywhere you find yourself?" Nick was furious "you..." He grabbed him by the collar, shot him a deadly glare. "What's the commotion about?" The grandmother asked as she descended the stairs with her personal maid. "Liam won't stop causing trouble." Nick ran to his grandmother and reported to her, as her personal maid assisted her with a chair. "Oh, that live in son-in-law" She said, they laughed looking at him sitting with his wife. "Let's get serious now... The reason why I called for this meeting is that our company has started experiencing some setbacks after so many years. Investors and partners have started withdrawing their shares from us. Presently, we are running into a debt which will bring more disgrace to us than the live in son in law." She explained she cracked a joke no one can laugh at. "What do you all think we should do?." She asked in a more audible voice. Everywhere was silent with each and everyone of them thinking of a solution. The Williams family is one of the second division families, those are the families from top 11 to top 20 which were in top 14. They can't afford to go back to the third division. "Grandmother, I think we should use what we have. Riley is a well known business woman with a well growing company, and an important figure in the city. I suggest she should partner with us with 60% shares then we would be able to pay debts and the outstanding bills, after that we will focus on how to grow bigger, she can even attract prestigious business personalities" Nick explained with so much seriousness. "But she will be the CEO after partnering with us" someone interjected. "Yes, it's better for a member of the family to take over compared to a total stranger." He replied almost immediately. The family members applauded him for his brilliant idea. "You always come up with solutions, I'm so proud of you." Grandmother praised, she shifted her gaze to Riley. "You must get it done this week, this family is counting on you." "Alright grandmother." She replied with a smile. "It is a great honour to run the family's company" she thought and smiled brightly. Nick smirked. "Just wait how I will make you go back from where you are, and I will dominate the top 10 and become a popular business man people want to associate with." Liam fixed his gaze on him. "He is up to no good, I need to tell Riley to turn them down before signing anything." He thought and shook his head, noticing how happy she was.
