[Mila’s P.O.V] My fingers began to cramp as I finished sketching the last section of the blueprint for a three story mansion. I flopped back into my chair as I admired my creation, slowly rolling my pencil in my teeth as I scanned over the three sheets of paper. As the boss and owner of " ’Home Creations’ Architectural Design Company" I sent all my staff home for the weekend as I stayed and finished off their to do lists for their individual clients as I made sure to give out the perfect design for each member of staff to allow them to show off their strengths but also challenge their weaknesses. I sometimes wish I wasn't the owner of a company purely to gain some sleep and time in my life but the spark in people’s eyes when they see their dream home on paper is a sight I am unable to part with. It was roughly about half past nine when I finally started to pack my things away. I had been here since seven this morning and I was ready to call it a day. It was late November so it was almost pitch black outside if it wasn't for the glow of the city. For above I could imagine it looking like a thousand fire flies were huddled together seeking warmth in the crisp autumn air. I threw on my thigh length coat and arranged my things in my hand bag before heading out of the office locking each door behind me until I reached the front entrance. The night air hit me, sending a shiver down my spine as I turned the key and pulled down the steel safety cover fastening; that to the ground. The company car park was one block away much to everyone's delight. I began the short walk to my car winding in and out of the crowd. Pockets of pedestrians caused me to move from left to right. I love living and working in New York, I moved 5 years ago with my Brother from England to kick start my business and never looked back. Speak of the devil... my phone vibrates in my coat pocket. I answer and pull it towards my ear only to be startled my niece and nephew scream down the phone. "Aunty Mila! Daddy won’t let us stay up becau-" they are cut off by the sound of my Brother wrestling the phone out of their grasp. "So sorry about that, Richard has taken them to bed now so we can chat about boys" Oh yeah I forgot to mention... He's gay. Him and his husband Richard adopted twins Jessica and Fin when they were babies and they've been little terrors ever since. Charlie has made it his personal duty to find me a guy and so far he has failed to find the perfect match. Every weekend it’s a new man knocking on my door to take me out on a date and none of them have made it to a second one so now the mere mention of the word "boys" makes me roll my eyes. "Don't you roll your eye at me missy" Charlie sassed down the phone. I swear his sixth sense is detecting eye rolls. "Charlie I really don't feel like going out tonight. I have a tone of work to do and I have no desire to have some weirdo asking me a billon questions over dinner." I grumbled. "Oh no love I found the perfect guy for you. He is a professional in his work and he is drop dead gorgeous." Charlies attempt to persuade me to go made my lips curl into a smile. "I’d rather not... the last guy you said was gorgeous was Richard and I can’t exactly date your husband". A soft giggle ran out of Charlie and I as we remembered the night they met. Let’s just say that Charlie had a lot to drink and Richard hadn't. Our conversation went on until I reached me car. Back and forth on whether I should cancel the date and we ended up compromising on him and I just going out for drinks. "Okay so meet him at the palace bar at ten and call me when you leave...I want to know all the details" "yeah will do…love ya" I said as I climbed into my blue Mini and fastened my seatbelt. "Love you too" Charlie and Richard said before hanging up.
