Once I ruffled out my clothes a bit, I jogged up to Terra’s side. “Thank you.” She said softly and that was that. That was all she said. She climbed up the stairs before pushing her way through the front doors and swiftly up the next set of stairs toward Lily’s room. I tried to push the door open for her, but once I made it toward the two of them, Terra was already walking through the entrance and heading toward the pink cushions next to Lily’s bed.
Terra sat down and rested Lily on her lap, petting Lily’s head softly. Terra’s normally bouncing curls hid her soft cheeks now reddened with tears. I wanted to hug her and tell her everything would be okay, but I just knew it wasn’t. I knew after that onslaught of words, she would need her space.
