41 Kiria It was starting. Kiria could tell. It had been exactly fourteen days. The jarring sensation came that she had anticipated and dreaded. It wasn’t the panic she had felt in Charäkhnem, though. It barely registered. If she hadn’t been waiting for it, she might not have noticed. But now it took her out of her reverie. She stood in the upper room of the Amiran Academy, looking up at the ribbed blue ceiling edged with gold, praying. She didn’t exactly know how to pray. There were the prayers the Amir led during special occasions. She knew portions of the Scroll. The passage that Chetana referenced echoed over and over again in her mind. God uproots the tyrant and blesses the one with mercy. She wanted… what? She wanted the horrible ordeal to be over. She wanted it all to be a mistake
