I knew very little about him. His story turned out to be simple and noble. He told me he was walking from New Jersey to San Francisco to make money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Meaty moguls like sss, Microsoft, Bayer, and Viacom were funding his trip, and donating millions to the foundation. He’d collect more monies along the way. The trip was planned to take four months, or longer; he wasn’t in a hurry. And he decided to pass through Templeton, since he’d never been to the area and wanted to see it.
