Jack walks away from the table first and begins to exit the room on its right side. A powder room is nearby; I know this, and feel it, although I’ve never been within this strange house before, although it is mine. I follow him, just as he wants and desires. Before I realize, I’m inches behind him and we exit the dining hall hand-in-hand. We enter a long, dark hallway filled with purple light. It’s a closet of sorts, I presume, because of the coats lining its left and right sides. The room is garnished with stretched, tweed coats, feathered hats of various purple hues, a variety of purple-hued galoshes, and long-handled umbrellas.
