THE AFTER PARTY

CHAPTER 5: LET FATE DECIDE

"f**k" The word rings in my mind as I watch Skye in her deep sleep 'What have I done?' I breathe out to myself as sleep wasn't finding me but panic was setting in quickly as realisation was hitting me quickly 

Once she had gone to sleep, I sobered up from the drinks I had downed due to me being nervous all night and now I was really regretting that decision 'She wasn't supposed to sleep with me, that wasn't part of the deal with Axel; now he's gonna be fuming' I bite my lip as I zone out thinking to myself what I could do 

'I need some fresh air' My mind wasn't clearing up at all, too many things were entering in and out so I decided that I needed to step out for a bit

I slowly slide out of bed, shuffling around trying to find my clothes "What this?" I whisper as I feel something sticky on my legs but realise that I had accidentally released when she tiredly pushed me aside 'Either she's drunk or she drunk cause what even was that?' I look over my shoulder to look at her remembering the stunt she had pulled 'Did Axel teach her that?' My thoughts run to my nightmares and I shake my head knowing I needed to leave right now

I walk out the room, straight down the stairs grabbing my coat and heading outside "What are you doing?" Axel who was coincidentally walking up the porch asks me as I open the door "Hello to you to brother" I say ignoring his question cause I was equally shocked to see him

He looks me down slowly then nods as he finishes scanning me "The nanny still here?" He asks and I nod patting myself trying to find my packet "What about Skye? Where is she?" I reach into my pocket and pull out my cigarette packet and my lighter  "Asleep" I answer without trying to cringe and offer him a draw to which he accepts quickly and waits for me to light it for him

"Already?" He brings it to his lips "-you guys didn't like watch a movie after dinner or something?" He teases me but deep down inside, I was for once afraid to let him know that I had indeed done the opposite and once again f****d the plan 

I don't say anything and just continue my smoke "So no to the movie?" He chuckles out confused to why I didn't reply "And a no to the dinner too" I say lowly and let out my air bringing the cigarette to my lips 

"I thought you quit smoking" He perks up eyeing me suspiciously probably not hearing what I had just said "I did" I nod quickly thinking back to the girl upstairs who despised it "So why-" He cuts himself off as if he'd finally figured it out what I had said "Wait, what do you mean no to the din- wait, Jordan don't tell me..." He goes on and I look down waiting for him to say it "Tell me it's not what I'm thinking Jordan" He steps closer to me dropping his cigarette on the floor 

I take a deep breath in and then let out the air from my smoke "Yeah" I force the word out my throat and he turns around covering his face "We had a deal" "A stupid f*****g deal! How can you expect me not to sleep with her" I rage out "You slept with her?!" Axel turns around shocked with his eyes wide open in shock "Wait what did you think I did?" "I dunno, I thought you pissed her off or something and that's why she's asleep so- wait you f*****g slept with her when that was rule number one??!?" He shouts at me and I hiss as he was being too loud "I know I f****d up, lo so(I know)" I drop my cigarette and bend down "But why?" He asks stressed looking down at me 

"Keira," I decide to use his girlfriend as a scenario hoping he would understand me "-you haven't seen Keira for almost a year and you finally see her" I look up to him "You won't?" He looks away and thinks about it for a while soon shaking his head as a reply "I wouldn't if it would mess up the plan" He says seriously and I rip my eyes off him biting my lip 

"I still don't see the problem" "See Jordan you don't see it but she will" He paces "The deal was you get to see her so she knows you're okay, so she can live normally without you, you were supposed to let her go Jordan" Axel goes on and I shake my head backtracking "I'm not doing that weirdo" I roll my eyes as he lets out a sigh "Listen, I slipped, I planned to tell her why I left over dinner, not to bring her home but once I saw her there dancing so elegantly, I just lost control, like when I'm around her I can control myself but today-" I cut myself off as I think about the whole night "Today just was...." I couldn't finish the sentence but I finished it off in my head 'One of the best days I've had in a while'

"What should we do now?" I shrug dropping my cigarette "I-" "You can't speak to her when she wakes up" My head snaps up to him "What?" "Are you kidding me Jordan? Let's not forget your girlfriend is a stubborn b***h she won't lea-" I stand up ready to punch him "She's a what?" 

"Sorry why would I even call her that?1" He slaps himself "I'm angry, no I'm angry at you" He pushes me back "But why?!" I step closer to him as it didn't faze me "CAUSE WE HAVEN'T EVEN MOVED ON WITH THE REAL PLAN, TO TAKE DOWN THAT DAMN MAN WE CALL FATHER" I watch him as he rages and sigh "We will do it" I whisper "If you talk to her Jordan, I won't let you see her again, I won't bring her to the meeting" My hand starts to shake as they ball into fists "You can't do that" My nose starts to flare "You've been here cooped up in hiding for months, when the plan to take that man down was supposed to happen a year ago" 

"I'm the one in trouble, I'm the one who gets the punishment if it doesn't work out, it's me Axel, I know what I'm risking, okay? That's why I have leverage, so you can't keep me from speaking to my girlfriend, if I please" "Ex*" He corrects, I scrunch my eyebrows confused as I watch him "Wha- whatever, you can't keep me from seeing her" He walks closer to me and leans closer to me "Watch me" He spits out then walks into my house leaving me standing there 

'I f****d up' I look up into the sky even more confused than when I was upstairs. I was planning on telling her tomorrow but now Axel had given me this stupid f*****g ultimatum, I had no idea what to do 'You lose everything if Axel jumps off the wagon' I try to remind myself

I walk back into the house after a while, looking down the hall under the stairs to see the guest bedroom lights on which Axel was placed in but what confused me more was Baby's room lights was turned on too

I know what you're wondering and I am not sure if you know but Axel had been in and out Italy for the first couple months, then he suddenly stopped coming saying 'he had duties to do' something like that, not like I cared cause recently he just seemed to care more about our stupid plan to take down my father which the light that ignited years ago was slowly dying inside me since Juliana

I didn't want to admit it yet but ever since Skye came into my life, it just went but I didn't know how to break it to Axel so I just decided to go through with his plan since we had been working on it for years, it's the real reason why I migrated to New York, he was here to help me

not to meet the love of my-

"What are you doing?" I open Baby's door and see the nanny on her phone but Baby was wide awake which slightly angered me "Mr Black, oh, non è riuscita a prendere sonno, non credo che sia stanca(Mr Black, oh, she hasn't been able to get to sleep I don't think she is tired)" She says quickly in a rush and I sigh looking away from her "Va bene, sei libero di tornare a casa ora(Okay fine, you're free to go home now)" "Ma signor Black, io-(But Mr Black, I-)" "Ho detto che per ora sei libero di andare, ti chiamo quando avrai di nuovo bisogno(I said you're free to go for now, I'll call you when you're needed again)" She sighs biting her lip "Grazie(Thank you)" She bows and I nod 

"Noah ha mangiato prima di andare a letto?(Did Noah eat before going to bed?)" I ask as I see Baby notice me in the room "Alla fine l'ha fatto, ma è rimasto in piedi un po 'perché voleva aspettarti(He did eventually but he stayed up a bit cause he wanted to wait for you)" she explains and I squeeze my eyes shut 

'I told that little boy I'd be home late and to sleep early but of course he didn't listen to me'

"Va bene, va bene, grazie Alana(Okay okay, thank you Alana)" I wave her off and walk to Baby's cot 

"Signore, sei riuscito a incontrare la tua ragazza?(Sir, did you manage to meet your girlfriend?)" I hear a question from behind me making me head tilt "Come sapevi che stavo incontrando qualcuno?(How did you know I was meeting someone?)" She bites her lip as if she had been caught in a lie 

I knew Alana had some sort of thing for me and probably seeing me with no woman made her happy because I wasn't the type to discuss my private life with anyone especially the nanny who has a thing for me. 

Though I'd treat her nice, it was only because she was good, polite and caring; I know she is probably doing this for other reasons and that's the reason I am using it to my advantage, so for her to find out about Skye worried me a bit since I tried being carful when bringing her in

"Ti ho sentito dire a Noah(I heard you telling Noah)" She replies and I nod trying to come up with something "Non preoccuparti, passa una buona notte, è davvero tardi quindi torna a casa sano e salvo(Don't worry about it, have a good night, it's really late so get home safe)" Her smile falters as I manage to avoid her question "Grazie, prendo le chiavi della macchina e me ne vado(Thanks, I'll just grab my car keys and get going)" I nod, she waits for a few seconds before finally packing her things and leaves the room

By the time she had gone, I had come back to check on Baby who was fast asleep and noticed that the guest bedroom lights was now off 'Guess that means I have to return back' I look up the stairs and swallow 

"You can't speak to her in the morning" Axel's words ring through my ears "Watch me" He had whispered taunting me 'I'm so sorry Skye' I sum up the courage to walk back up the stairs and into my bedroom where she still remained sleeping

Quietly, I shut the door, picked up her clothes on the floor so it was in one place and after that, slid myself back into bed suddenly ambushed by Skye's warmth that radiated off her

As if she felt me come back she moved closer to me, wrapping her arm around me which surprised me cause she wasn't awake at all, well not that I knew of

After holding my breath for a few minutes, I finally concluded that she was indeed still asleep but what did I really want her to be? At this point I wasn't even sure anymore

'This is my last night with you Skye, I am sorry I left you for so long but I swear I have the perfect explanation, I just can't just put it down on paper cause I wanted to look at you Skye' I start in my head as I had prepared the perfect speech telling her everything, including why she had to let me go

Well, I definitely wasn't going to say the last part, I just agreed to it so Axel would bring her along this time and for once my older brother pulled though 'And you disappointed him'

I didn't want to sleep afraid of my nightmares which could possibly wake Skye, so for the rest of the night, I stayed there cuddled up on Skye playing with the ends of her hair whilst in deep thought for the rest of the time
