--- Episode 18: Hot Springs, Cold Mothers, and the Secret That Changes Everything Word Count: ~3,000** --- 8:00 a.m. – Zuma Rock Resort, Day 6 Aurora stretched lazily on the bed, sunlight washing over her. Damian was brushing his teeth while trying to tame his hair in the mirror. She rolled over. “You know you have bedhead, right?” He smirked. “It’s my CEO crown. Uncombed but commanding.” Suddenly, his phone rang. Caller ID: Mother. Damian stared at it like it was a cursed object. Aurora sat up. “Should I hide?” “No. But maybe don’t smile too much. She thinks joy is a sign of weakness.” --- 8:30 a.m. – Resort Courtyard Vivienne Wolfe stepped out of a private car like royalty. In her sixties, sleek and graceful, she wore a white silk blouse, gold accessories, and an expression carved from stone. Damian greeted her stiffly. “Mother.” Vivienne kissed both his cheeks without warmth. “Darling. And this must be... the distraction.” Aurora stepped forward, extending a hand. “I’m Aurora. It’s lovely to meet you.” Vivienne ignored the handshake and smiled thinly. “So this is the woman the media claims cried during a zipline ride?” Aurora blinked. “Only a little scream.” Vivienne gave Damian a look. “You used to date diplomats.” “And I used to like olives,” he muttered. --- 10:00 a.m. – Resort Breakfast Pavilion The entire Wolfe Enterprises staff watched from nearby tables as Vivienne Wolfe inspected the buffet like it personally offended her. Aurora accidentally dropped a spoon. It echoed. Vivienne sighed. “Charming.” Clarissa whispered, “Why does she look like she judges angels?” Aurora gulped down her juice and tried to laugh. “She’s just... sophisticated.” “She’s sophisticated the way a panther is sophisticated.” Meanwhile, Damian stood tense beside his mother. “Do you have an issue with Aurora?” he asked quietly. Vivienne stirred her tea without looking up. “She lacks... history.” Damian leaned in. “And maybe you lack warmth. But here we are.” --- 1:00 p.m. – The Hot Springs Accident In an effort to impress Vivienne, the company hosted a private hot springs tour. Clarissa convinced Aurora to sneak into the warm pools early for “aesthetics.” “Just relax,” Clarissa said. “She’ll leave tomorrow and we’ll all pretend we didn’t almost die from politeness.” As Aurora eased into the steamy spring, she let out a sigh of relief. Until she heard footsteps. Then—Damian entered. Shirtless. Wearing swim trunks. Sculpted, damp, glowing. She blinked. “You said you weren’t coming.” He grinned. “I lied.” She tried not to stare. She failed. He joined her in the water and floated lazily beside her. “This is peaceful,” he murmured. “Until your mother shows up and turns it into a glacier.” He smirked. “She’ll survive. I always do.” They drifted closer. “Just so you know,” she said, “this is officially the most romantic accident of my life.” “And this is the first time I’ve not wanted to escape one of my mother’s visits.” Their legs brushed. Their hands met underwater. They kissed—slow, drawn-out, full of heat and steam. --- 3:00 p.m. – The Plot Twist No One Saw Coming Vivienne stood at the balcony of her suite, overlooking the gardens, when she opened a letter that had been slipped under her door. Her face paled. She stormed down to the private lounge where Damian and Aurora sat laughing over iced drinks. “Damian Wolfe,” she barked. He stood quickly. “What now?” She threw the open letter onto the table. “Care to explain this?” Aurora picked it up. > To: Vivienne Wolfe Subject: Finalization of Paternity Documents Dear Madam, After confirmation via recent DNA samples submitted anonymously, it has been confirmed that Aurora Bennett shares a 49.8% genetic match with your late husband, Christopher Wolfe. Aurora Bennett is the biological daughter of Christopher Wolfe. Filed and confirmed under case file #CW-4567. Inheritance discussions will follow. Dead silence. Aurora’s glass dropped. Damian’s mouth opened but no sound came. Vivienne turned sharply to Aurora. “You’re not just a distraction.” “You’re my husband’s daughter.” --- 3:01 p.m. – Staff Nearby Clarissa turned to Tasha and whispered, “Wait, wait, WAIT—WHAT?!” Tasha choked on her mango smoothie. --- 3:15 p.m. – Private Room Aurora sat on the edge of the couch, shaking. “I didn’t know. I swear. My mom told me she worked at Wolfe Enterprises but… I never thought—” Vivienne paced. “He had an affair. With your mother.” “I only just found out he was my father. I never met him. Never even knew.” Damian stared at the wall like it had personally betrayed him. “Which means… we’re—?” Aurora asked softly. Vivienne folded her arms. “Not siblings. You share a father. Not a mother. And you’re not related by blood.” Damian’s voice was gravel. “But... this changes everything.” Aurora looked at him, eyes wide with pain. “Do you regret me now?” He walked to her and knelt. “Never.” --- 6:00 p.m. – Lakeside Firepit The staff gathered again. Most tried to pretend they didn’t know the truth... even though everyone definitely knew the truth. Clarissa handed Aurora a plate of jollof and grinned. “So... surprise heiress, huh?” Aurora sighed. “I want to crawl into the hot spring and never come out.” “Hey,” Clarissa said. “You survived scandal, zipline confessions, and Damian’s tragic attempt at cooking. This? This is just extra sparkle on your crown.” Aurora smiled faintly. “You think so?” “You’re not just the assistant anymore,” Clarissa said. “You’re technically his boss’s daughter.” Damian walked by and added, “Which makes it extra awkward when I’m planning our second kiss.” Aurora threw a plantain chip at him. --- Final Scene – Damian and Aurora, Alone Again They stood on the balcony, wrapped in silence and moonlight. “You know,” Aurora whispered, “I spent most of my life thinking I came from nothing.” “You didn’t,” Damian said. “You came from her. Your mom. Who raised you alone, worked hard, and never asked for anything.” “I’m still me, right?” He leaned in. “You’re Aurora Bennett. CEO heartbreaker. Plantain queen. My accidental love story.” She smiled. He kissed her forehead. They held hands under the stars—heirs to an empire they never meant to share, lovers from opposite sides of a secret, and still… completely themselves. --- To Be Continued... 📌 In Episode 19: Vivienne demands Aurora sign away her inheritance. A couples' karaoke night leads to hilarious singing fails. And Damian makes a move that proves he's not afraid of a little scandal—or forever.
