Flimsy Brother

1168 Words
She stared at the money notes and wondered why the guy dropped money. It's not like she asked or begged him for any money. Before she could even think of anything to do, Joe had already picked up the money notes. She glared at him and said,“Joe, why are you behaving so unruly? This isn't what I've been teaching you. You don't pick money that doesn't belong to you.” “But the kind Mister dropped it for us,” Joe protested. He doesn't understand why his sister has been acting somehow harsh lately. Well he could only link her new behaviour to their wicked aunt, Amal. Earlier that day_ “Hey! Take your flimsy brother with you and never come back!,” Amal yelled at Jane as she pushed her to the ground. Jane cried out as she fell on the ground heavily with a thud. Ever since her parents died, she and her little brother have been tortured by their relatives. It's either her paternal aunts or her maternal aunts. Both families grew hatred for them because they all thought they were the cause of their parents death. “Aunt, why are you doing this to us? Don't forget your late sister is my mom, aunt…. She wouldn't like you treating her children like this. Please aunt!,” Jane tried to plead pitifully but she ended up making Amal much more angry than before. “b***h! Are you trying to lecture me!?,” Amal shouted as she pulled Jane's hair. Jane screamed loudly out of pain cause it's like she's pulling her whole scalp painfully. “Aunt! Let go of my sister. What are you doing!?,” Joe shouted as he ran in as fast as his short legs could carry him. Amal let go of Jane and held Joe about to spank him for interfering when Jane quickly held her hands. She pleaded and cried at the same time. Amal glared at the two of them and told Jane,“Shut up you b***h! Amelia must have been cursed to give birth to a pair of unfortunate children like you two. Your bad luck must have rubbed on her fate for her to have left us too soon.” These words pricked Jane's fragile heart. She couldn't believe this was her aunt Amal who had loved her right from when she was a kid. Someone who had watched over her when her mama was busy with her business trips. Someone who had always cared for her and Joe like they were her own children. Someone that even when all their other relatives refused to take them in, she brought them to her house. Why? Why did she suddenly change overnight? Why is she treating them so badly now? All the love she had shown them before, was that all fake love? Jane's parents were the kind of people with tight business schedules. They had little time for themselves not to talk of their kids. They were always busy with businesses, going on a trip, product presentation, attending board of directors meetings, and making sure everything was in place. They were part of the top ten richest in the country of Mali. But after the incident which made them lose their lives, misfortunes begin to happen. The company was taken over by both paternal and maternal families. Jane didn't expect that aunt Amal of all people was the one who snatched the documents. She only found out recently and confronted her which led to their current argument. Jane parents were married for 3 years before they gave birth to Jane and then Joe. Jane was way older than Joewith 15years as at that period. After putting to birth and nursing the kids, Jane's parents made Aunt Amal in charge of the kids. Since she was a relative, she was more trusted with the kids than hiring a housemaid for them. And of course, she gets monthly payments for it. Aunt Amal was the immediate younger sister of Amelia. She was newly graduated from college and was about to clock twenty when Amelia hired her to take care of her kids. Jane felt like someone needs to pinch her to come back to reality. Aunt Amal changed overnight. “I can't believe you are the one saying this, aunt Amal! You never thought we were bad luck when she was here so why do you say so now that she's no more,” Jane spoke up. Amal clenched her fists, wishing she could give her the beating of her life but she didn't instead she took all their shabby bags filled with their things and threw them out of the house. " Well then believe now and leave before I do something you don't expect!,” she spat out as she glared at Jane. Joe stood and walked towards Amal ignoring the way Jane is trying to hold him back. “This is our parents house. Why would you ask us to leave!?,” he asked as he clenched his little fist. “Joe, that's fine. Let her be,”Jane cupped his face lovingly as she held his hands. Amal rolled her eyes and threw her face aside. “No Jane, this isn't right. Dad and mom left this house for us,” the novice child spoke out. “Joe, that's fine,”she pats his head as she tried to stop herself from crying. “Aunt, you are a snake! It's only a snake that behaves like this. A snake under the green grass,” Joe insulted immediately the tears Jane has been trying to hold back fell. Amal's eyes bulged out as she stepped forward to slap him. “You little…b..!” She felt a force on her wrist as someone held her hands and twist it backwards making her land on the tiles. She screamed out loud. “Never try to raise your hands on my brother. I can tolerate this s**t you are doing here but don't lay your filthy hands on him,” she grits her teeth in anger. Joe spurt out in laughter as he saw the agony on Amal's face. She must have a broken waist by now. Amal shamelessly stood up on her feet, calling out on Liam to push them out. Liam is her husband. “Liam!,” she screamed in pain. A slim, tall guy with gloomy hazel eyes appeared shortly. “Push these two out of the house She wants to kill me,”Amal lied as she continued with her mythical tears. He grabbed their hands without a word and threw them out. “Aunt, you will pay for this!,” Jane cried and threatened as they left... Present day_ “Give me that,” Jane said as she collected the money notes from Joe. As she held the cash, her jaws slackened in suprise as she counted the cash. What the heck! That guy actually left this much cash for them!
