CHAPTER 2 (ENCOUNTER)

Ethan's POV

I am at the Xander's Company right now for business negotiations. Good thing hindi ako na-late since may muntikan ata kami masagasaan sa daanan kanina. Tho i suddenly thought she looks familiar.

"I'll think about it Mr. Xander, I'll come to you personally if I have answers na." Sagot ko sa lalaking nasa harap ko. He is a bit old but he is very well known to the high elites for his magnificent jewelry designs.

"Mr. Ethan, time for your meal na sir, should I book a nearby restaurant?" Tanong ni Jacob. My driver and assistant. "Nope, I'll eat at this company's canteen."

FAST FORWARD

While looking for food I suddenly saw a familiar figure. It's her. That woman from earlier. But why does she look like parang hoholdapin niya yung nagtitinda? Pfttt.

JACOB POV

Nanlamig ako sa kinatatayuan ko. Totoo ba to? Am I not hallucinating? Tumatawa si boss? Teka may langaw ba na pumasok sa tenga niya? Is he possessed?

ETHAN'S POV

This girl is really familiar, I have a feeling. Nadako agad ang tingin ko sa kamay niya. Then I saw the same bracelet.

"Sir the food is here kaso wala na atang available na table." -Jacob

" Not a problem, I'll just ask the two ladies there. " Then I pointed the table where that girl is sitting.

"Hello ladies, can we join you?" I asked. But the look on her eyes says different pftt this woman's something.

Fast forward

Finally nakaupo din. This woman is very talkative. I should find it annoying but now is different. She's weird.

I asked her her name but then I didn't get the chance to hear it since its already time for my next appointment. I dont know but i feel like I want to see that woman again.

"Jacob, I want you to see the details about that woman from the canteen." Utos ko.

JACOB POV

Nakuu yari na. May nakabingwit agad sa inis ni boss umaga palang. Ano kayang gagawin ni boss? Ipapa black list sya sa industry? O ipapaligpit? Nanginig bigla ang katawan ko ang nanayo ang mga balahibo.

Author's POV

Napa iling iling nalang si Jacob sa mga naiisip niya.

FAST FORWARD (IN THE CAR)

Ethan stared out the window. "That bracelet......." He muttered. Jacob glance at the rearview mirror. "Sir?" "Nothing..." Ethan cut him off.

But Ethan's mind was elsewhere.

Back at Villermoso Tower, Jacob was filing some documents but his mind kept going back to the canteen from earlier.

'ngumiti si boss Ethan.... Dalawang beses! '

Nang biglang nag ring ang phone niya.

Unknown number?

"Mr. Jacob?"

"Who's this?"

"This is Ms. Celine Montenegro, Ethan's............ associate. I just wanted to know if he mentioned any girl today?"

Jacob frowned "No ma'am."

"Good, keep it that way." tut-tut-tut

She hung up.

Nagtaka saglit si Jacob. 'Associate? Kelan pa? Wala naman ibang meeting si sir about associate?' he shrugged at isinawalang bahala na lamang ito.

ETHAN POV

Later that night.

Napatingin si Ethan sa wall clock niya. 11:47 pm. It's late and yet he can't sleep.

Hawak niya ang isang lumang picture. Siya at isang babaeng naka pig tails, magka holding hands pa ang mga ito.

Kuha ito 10 years ago nung mga highschool palang sila at nasa school. He flipped the photo and may nakasulat dito.. 'bestfriends forever '

"Is it really you Zsazsa?" He asked while looking at the ceiling.

And then everything went black .

NEXT MORNING - VILLERMOSO TOWER

Maaga si Jacob. 7am pa lang andun na siya.

Pumasok si Ethan ng 8:30 halatang kakagising lang.

Naka-gray suit. Hair slightly messy. Walang briefcase.

"Sir? 9am meeting niyo po--"

"Cancel," sabi ni Ethan. "I'm going out."

"Saan po sir?"

"Canteen."

Nanlaki ang mata ni Jacob.

'Canteen? Again?'

Ethan stopped at the door. "And Jacob...

Find out who Zsa is."

Then he left.

Napatingin naman si Jacob sa mga files na inaayos niya, naalala niya na inutos na pala yun ni Ethan sa kanya kahapon.

JACOB POV

Inutos na niya yan kahapon ah? Seryoso ba talaga siya? Arghhhhh sakit naman sa ulo ng amo na to.

Sa sampung taon niyang pagiging assistant, ngayon lang niya nakita si Ethan na ganito.

Distracted. Paulit-ulit. Kina-cancel ang meeting para sa... canteen?

Binaba ni Jacob ang ballpen at kinuha ang phone.

Hindi niya alam kung matutuwa siya o matatakot para sa babaeng 'yon.

"Zsa..." bulong niya. "Ms. Zsa Ocampo, I hope you're ready.

Because once Ethan Villermoso sets his eyes on someone...

he doesn't let go."

He sighed and opened his laptop.

Time to stalk. For work purposes only.

ON ETHAN'S SIDE

Wala na dapat siyang business dito sa Xander Company.

Nag-meet na sila ni Mr. Xander kahapon.

"Take your time to decide, Ethan,"

"The company is yours if you want it."

Kanina pa 11:30 nakaupo si Ethan sa canteen.

Gray suit. Black coffee. Walang phone. Walang laptop.

Just him. And his eyes scanning every single door and corner of the place.

People were staring and whispering.

"Investor yata 'yan?"

"Ang gwapo pero bakit dito kumakain?"

He didn't care.

12:00. Wala pa rin.

12:30. Still no sign , unti-unti narin nag aalisan ang mga employees

12:50. There was still no Zsa.

Wala siya.

For the first time, Ethan felt......... annoyed.

Not because she wasn't there.

But because he realized he was actually looking for her.

He stood up. Walked to the table where she sat yesterday.

It is empty.

"Running away, Zsazsa?" bulong niya.

He turned to Jacob who was standing awkwardly by the door.

"Jacob."

"Yes sir?"

"Tell Mr. Xander... I agree to the deal."

Nanlaki ang mata ni Jacob. "Sir, the company??"

"Yes," sabi ni Ethan habang nakatingin pa rin sa upuan ni Zsa.

"If I own this place, I can find her everyday."

He left without looking back.

Naiwan namang nakatayo at speechless si Jacob. 'Boss hindi na kita maintindihan. Bat gusto mo syang makita palagi kung gusto mo lng din siyang ipa ligpit' napa iling-iling nalang siya sa kanyang naiisip.

FAST FORWARD

- IN THE CAR

Tahimik lang na pumasok at umupo si Ethan sa kotse halatang malalim ang iniisip

"Jacob," malamig niyang tawag

"Yes sir?" kabadong sagot ni Jacob.

"I need everything."

"Po?"

"About her. Full name. Address. Department. Schedule. Family.

Everything you can get by tonight."

Napalunok si Jacob. 'Grabe, this is bad.'

"Sir... HR files are confidential--"

"I own the company now, Jacob."

Tumingin si Ethan sa kanya sa rearview mirror.

"So nothing is confidential anymore."

Tumango si Jacob kahit nanginginig. "Yes sir."

Ethan took a bath when he got home. After that dumiretso na siya sa office niya.

His phone rang after receiving a message from Jacob.

Ethan opened the file on his phone.

Zaria Shen Aize V. Ocampo. 24.

Adopted at age 5.

"Jacob," he texted.

"Yes sir?"

"Don't let anyone in the company know about this file."

"Yes sir."

"And Jacob... make sure her brother's tuition is paid.

Anonymously."

He didn't know why he typed that.

He just did. While on the other hand Jacob is so curious as to why would he pay the tuition for Zsa's brother .

ETHAN POV

After ko basahin ang files ni Zsa I found something. She really is that girl from before.

Flashback:

" Ibibigay mo samin yang nasa bag mo o susuntukin ka namin?" Panakot ng matabang bata, sa likod nito dalawang batang lalaki na di gaanong kapayatan. The young Ethan doesnt want to hand his bag because inside it was a small cake meant for his mom. Umiiyak lang siya habang nakaupo. Maya-maya pa ay may batang babae na sumigaw. "Mother superior! Mother superior! May mga batang nang bubully po dito!!" Sigaw niya habang kunwari ay nasa di kalayuan ang tinatawag niya. Agad naman nag si takbuhan ang mga bata.

"Ayos ka lang ba?" Tanong nito habang inaaabot ang kamay kay Ethan. "Ayos lang ako salamat." Sagot niya pagtapos tumayo at pinag pagan ang sarili.

FAST FORWARD

"Sayo na tong bracelet ko. Ingatan mo yan. Protection amulet yan na galing pa sa mama ko raw. Lagi mong suotin, para kahit san ka man pumunta magiging ligtas ka. Wag mo rin kakalimutan ang pangalan ko ay Zsa" wika niya sabay yakap kay Ethan. "Pangako Zsa, paglaki ko hahanapin kita at papakasalan." Pag sambit niya nun ay tumalikod na siya at sumakay sa sasakyan.

Yun na ang huling beses na nagkita sila.
