CHAPTER TWELVE June 17, 1937—The Osceola Times: “Famed and notorious Archeologist and Professor of Agriculture, Dr. Walter Stevens’ assistant drowned yesterday in a freak accident. It seems his assistant Henry Green, fell into a pool in a cave they were studying near the Gospel Ridge Road. He sucked in the putrid waters from the pool as he succumbed to the pool’s clutches. Upon interviewing Dr. Stevens, he said he reached for Mr. Green, and had hold of his hand, when Mr. Green pushed away. Dr. Stevens warns all, “Don’t go near that pool. You won’t come back.” Mr. Green’s head went under again and Dr. Stevens grabbed for his hair and his ear. According to Dr. Stevens, “It was the strangest thing. I had hold of him.
