There was a line of seductive smiles that now crossed on Simon's lips. Eloise hurriedly raised her hand that had been idle, gesturing 'no' because Simon might misunderstand.
She didn't want him to let go of anything! Is he crazy? What?! And why let go of something in an elevator, anyway?
"No, not letting go of that!" Eloise corrected quickly. "Well, I mean, let go of my hand."
Simon was already staring ahead again, looking at the elevator doors that reflected their silhouettes quite clearly. Occupying the metal box, just the two of them with this strange woman made Simon secretly hide a smile.
Seeing the blush that was now present on the cheeks of the woman behind them, Simon suddenly felt the instinct to play around that was now sticking out in him. The plan to spend time with this woman sounded like it would be entertaining, especially when she had nowhere to return to.
"Later." After a few seconds of silence between them, Simon finally opened his voice in response to Eloise's request. "I don't want to talk to explain the way. So it's better this way."
Eloise was silent. She felt Simon squeeze her hand gently, implying he did not want to let go of her hand just yet. And Eloise ended up just biting her lip, thinking whether she should stick with this citrus-smelling stranger or whether she should now say that she wanted to call the whole thing off.
Ouch! How's this?!
Amid her turmoil, Eloise was still deliberating rapidly, as fast as the elevator that kept moving floor by floor.
15. 16. 17.
Four more floors before they would reach the 21st floor, and Eloise still couldn't decide what she would do after this. Damn it! What should she do?
Ting.
The clink of the elevator sounded loud, almost cutting off Eloise's breath that had been held. She was just about to say she wanted to cancel, but again, the visualisation of Robert and the wrinkly auntie came to mind.
The more Eloise burned with jealousy, the more she wanted revenge to make Robert regret it for the rest of his life. No, she didn't. Eloise didn't want to end up being the only miserable party in this incident, especially when she wondered what Robert and the wrinkled aunt were doing on the other side of the door.
Maybe they were talking to each other...
Glancing once at Simon's body, which was now taking the first step, Eloise glared as she realised that her gaze had just fallen on the citrus man's full buttocks.
'Ouch, my eyes are stained!' Eloise thought. But instead of closing her eyes, the young woman quietly swallowed some saliva. 'Damn it, Eloise!
Simon was still content to walk in silence now that someone back there seemed to be keeping his promise not to grumble or mutter incoherently anymore. Retracing her steps back to the hallway on the 21st floor of the luxury hotel, Eloise found that this hallway looked quite different from the 4th-floor hallway she had been in earlier.
There weren't many doors on this floor, and the distance from one door to another was long. Not as many as the rooms on the 4th floor; it seemed this hallway only had a few rooms. Paintings of landscapes and animals seemed to adorn the walls along the hallway, with lights that somehow felt set half dim.
Eloise was still taking in the surroundings, mesmerized by the atmosphere when Simon's footsteps stopped right of a door. Hurrying to stop because she was unprepared, thankfully, Eloise did not bump into Simon's sturdy body, which was now reaching into the back pocket of the trousers he was wearing.
Secretly glancing at the movement just now, Eloise felt her body sweat.
"Are we here yet?" she asked, intending to break the ice. After all, shouldn't we still be friendly to everyone?
"Didn't you see me stop?" Instead of responding in kind, Simon half smirked. "You're still unconscious, aren't you?"
Eloise hurriedly yanked on their handshake, getting him to let go this time. Simon looked surprised with widened black eyes as Eloise was just about to open her voice to curse the man. Why did he answer in such a blunt manner when Eloise asked in the most excellent way possible?
"You are-" Quickly stopping the words almost on the tip of her tongue, Eloise hurriedly closed her lips before things worsened. Damn it. She had nowhere to stay tonight, so why shouldn't she let the citrus man do as he pleased? For once, Eloise did not want to prolong the matter.
"What am I?" Placing a square card with the hotel's crest in navy blue, Simon waited. "I'm what, hm?"
Eloise bit her lip. 'Hold on, Eloise! Hold on! This man might be able to win you over from Robert!'
Reminding herself that she was not in a position to argue, Eloise finally could only take a deep breath. Casting a spell so that she would no longer be upset.
"Ah, I mean... you're right too." Eloise did not know when she had gotten good at quibbling and lying. "Surely we've arrived. Haha."
Deliberately tucking in a small laugh at the end of the sentence, Eloise hoped that the citrus man would not find it awkward from how she had just spoken. They were already at the door, and Eloise didn't want to back down anymore.
For the sake of everything! She needed this man. She needed him to fulfill the disappointment of Robert's betrayal. She required the citrus man to be her outlet, as well as Eloise's shelter today.
Simon only grinned slightly. He didn't care, but he secretly knew that there was something this strange woman was holding back. Something was left unsaid - probably a swear word and Simon chose not to prolong a conversation that didn't seem worthwhile.
"Come in." Pushing open the dark brown painted door, Simon had already taken the first step. Placing the card in the slot just to the wall's right, the man activated several lights that automatically came on.
And Eloise, again, was stunned.
It seemed that this room on the 21st floor was indeed quite different from the other floors, because it looked very luxurious and magnificent. Planting her feet in front of the entrance, Eloise was utterly transfixed.
"It's... so wide," she mumbled, not knowing that the volume of her voice made Simon easily hear her. "This room is strongly ... crazy."
