Simon's words were still ringing very clearly in Luke's ears.

"Simon." Luke breathed in with difficulty. The old man waited for Simon to correct what he had just said, but it seemed Simon had no intention of doing so. "Don't say nonsense in situations like this, you know!"
Luke unconsciously raised the tone of his voice. The man's mind immediately wandered to who knows where, just as Simon said that the man loved someone from the Campbell family.
