He lies there with no heart, but heartless is the last thing you'll call him." ― Sonali
Ryan
Ryan Bertoldo Arnoldo II (Sandulf Clell), paused outside the pack house waiting for his friends, Baldassare Theodore, soon to be Delta of the pack and Raul Pate, soon to be Gamma of the pack. Although they are not that close, there's still a resemblance of friendship between them and they respect each other greatly, and trust each other with their life as a pack should.
He hasn't been in Asheville for a long time. It's been ten years since he left. He had been away for an alpha training, which is just a cover up in all honesty. For five years everyone believed he was receiving his alpha training at an institute meant for Alpha's only, but instead he spent ten years at the crescent moon pack. He couldn't bear the death of his father, and also witnessed his mother spiral into madness, because she couldn't bear the loss of her mate. It was no help, since he's the exact replica of his father, they could be mistaken as twins, that's if his dad was still alive.
Staying there was too much for him to handle without breaking down, or worse, give in to the darkness that lurks in the shadows. So he went to his uncle's place, the crescent moon pack.
Although the alpha, his uncle, is actually his father's best friend, and not blood brothers, they acted more as brothers that the entire kingdom believed they were relatives, only a few knew they weren't actually relative.
Mr Bertoldo was his father's childhood friend, though not from the same pack, they'd somehow formed a bond.
Their first encounter was in the human world. His dad had been forced to accompany his dad to the annual alpha's meeting, just as they, his dad and granddad, who's also late. Climbing out of the blue mustang, his father noticed a scrawny looking boy hiding behind another alpha, he assumed it was the boy's dad, which was correct. His dad had found it funny, that a soon to be alpha was hiding behind his dad, like a scaredy cat. Long story short, they challenged each other, his uncle wanting to prove he was truly an alpha son and not a coward and from there they became friends. They went to the same university and even got admitted at the same time on the same day, they attended the same alpha training academy as well... They became soul brothers from the day they first met, that was why Mr Bertoldo was able to feel the death of his father, even though he wasn't there when it happened.
Mr Bertoldo was the only one his father trusted besides his mate and pup, and in the entire kingdom Mr Bertoldo was the only one who could come as close as being a match for his father, in academics and wit.
He was given the Bertoldo Arnoldo course by his dad , but his official name is "Ryan Sandulf Clell".
Mr Bertoldo had been the one to train and teach him all he knows today. After his dad's death he took him in and had been a great model to him, and he hopes he measures up to his expectations.
As he waited, Ryan couldn't help but think about what happened two days ago, as it is now Monday. He had returned to Ashville last week Friday, because of the uproar in the werewolf Kingdom. Apparently a rumor had spread like wildfire among the people that the heir to the throne was dead. All sorts of rumors. It left the entire kingdom wondering if it were true. If he would ever return and claim his rightful place or not. Some said he wasn't dead but a coward that couldn't lead and protect his people, just as his father did, even as he took his last breath.
Just like today, he had waited in front of the pack house, not for the same reasons as today, thinking about what he's gonna have to face, different scenarios playing in his head, the one that frightened him the most was coming face to face with the shell of a woman he once called mother. He knew he shouldn't have abandoned her, and that it was selfish of him to leave the way he had left, he knew all that, was aware he was being a coward but he felt no remorse for what he had done. He had no guilt and would do it all over again if placed in the same predicament.
Just as he was about to mindlink someone to ask why his driver hadn't arrived yet, he saw a car drive into the pack , he bent to pick up his luggages from the coal-tarred floor when he was mindlinked by Mr Bertoldo, that his car had arrived. Just as the mindlink was closed, the car headed in his direction, he had just picked the bags, when her scent reached him. A wave of anger washed over him as he maintained a facade of calm.
Just from the scent,he knew who the driver was and he wasn't happy about it. He scrunched his nose in distaste, as the car drew near. She was the last person he wanted to see. He immediately mindlinked Mr Bertoldo, about the situation, before the call pulled up In front of him. But there was nothing he can do, other than to let her escort him back to his pack, all cause of some f****d up werewolf s**t law he's going to have to change, immediately after his coronation.
"Why Is she the one driving? He mindlinked Mr Bertoldo. " There's no one free because of the rogue sighting, , and as an alpha, you can't after a long time be left alone to return to your pack without an escort, it doesn't speak well of you, and would reflect badly on the pack you stayed in". He explained." Okay sir". He said before closing the mindlink.
The last thing he needs is someone challenging him for his alpha position. Especially since there are already a lot of eyes on his position, people who covet his powers, he can't afford to show any sign of weakness. The car stopped in front of him, a few feet away from where he stood.
"Hopppp in" she bellowed excitedly, acting like a kid in a fun park.
"Supp alpha" she greeted flirtatiously. Seductively looking at him like a dog about to pounce on a bone.
"Seems like someone's excited". He said in his mind. His wolf snickered in response.
He sighed before entering the car, muttering incorrigible words underneath his breath.
Malina grinned at him, as he closed the few feets between them. She gave an internal sigh of relief when he entered the car. She had assumed he would throw a fit, not literally, but maybe refuse having her as his driver, that much she had expected. She thanked the goddess for her luck.
Although he'd like to have anyone be his driver, as long as it wasn't her, he didn't say anything about replacing her to someone else. Even though he doesn't want to be anywhere near her, he had to comport himself and act like her presence doesn't affect him,he wouldn't give her the satisfaction, she's the last person he expected to run into while in the crescent moon pack, but it seems like the odds were against him.
Meanwhile as Ryan was bombarded with different thoughts racing through his mind, Malina on the other hand, in her mind thought he had feelings for her, well she's kinda not wrong but it wasn't the type of feeling she thinks he has for her. He truly does have feelings for her. Hatred. Pure. Raw hatred, that's what he feels for her. He despised her. And the deluded girl had no idea.
The way she looked at him, the emotions that she deliberately showed him, gave him a pang, as past memories came flooding in. But just as it flooded his thoughts, brewing up a storm within him, he sealed it up. Placed a mental lid on it. He knows her well enough, to know what she's trying to do. And it wasn't going to work on him.
He heard all that had happened to the blood moon pack and that they weren't as strong as they used to be. He felt no remorse towards them. He had been informed they were almost reaching the bottom of the food chain and they needed alliance, power, and connection, which is the apparent reason why she's in his life again, batting her fake eyelashes at him, hoping against all odds he'd fall for her tricks again. He couldn't feel sorry for her, and her power hungry pack. None of them in the pack is righteous or kindhearted.
"She hurt you, betrayed you, you shouldn't forgive her, not so easily". Hati, his wolf interjected.
Malina placed her hand on his thigh and squeezed it affectionately, before focusing back on the road and drove out of the pack, leaving dust in her wake.
"The pack is situated in central Europe. The Alps. They are the largest and most extensive mountain range system that lies entirely in Europe and stretches, approximately one thousand, two hundred kilometers across eight alpine countries: France, Switzerland, Monaco, Italy, Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany and Slovenia". Said Malina, full of energy and enthusiasm. "There are Eastern and western Alps," she continued. "The curved central chain, it's owned by France, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, and Germany.
The Alps are Europe's youngest mountain range. They came into existence sixty-five million years ago , as a result of a collision between African and eurasian tectonic plates.
Humans have been living in the Alps for sixty thousand years, while werewolves have lived longer in the Alps. Although wolves had just been recently discovered in the Alps, werewolves had existed even before the discovery of the Alps.
In the past, the Alps was a remote location with difficult living conditions which humans couldn't cope with, but today the Alps region attracts more than one hundred million visitors every year.
In the eighteenth and nineteenth century the Alps attracted some interest, artists (mostly poets and writers) and naturalists started flocking to it and it was around that time it became popular to climb the peaks.
Mont Blanc is where the pack mostly hold ceremonies and some other important occasions and it stands at four thousand eight hundred meters above sea level which makes it the highest of all the peaks in the Alps. While it is the tallest, Mont Blanc isn't the only peak that exceeds four thousand meters in height. In fact, there are glaciers, that was in 1876. By 1970, the area covered by glaciers had reduced to one thousand three hundred and forty two square kilometers. Chamonix is where the entire pack resides, including the alpha. Chamonix is a quaint little town filled with historic places and charming auberges(inn). It's been a world renowned ski resort ever since the winter Olympics of 1924 were held here. Reflecting its history, the architecture of Chamonix is a mix of traditional and modern, which made ancient supernatural creatures, most especially witches, to be attracted to the place. Especially the jura region, a lovely pastoral landscape of green, rolling hills dotted with historic towns and beautiful villages. The PARC jura vaudois is a two hour drive from Chamonix". She paused to allow him to respond. He did not.
" The drive from Chamonix to Geneva airport (GVA) is about an hour via the autoroute blanche (A40) motorway, she resumed her one-sided conversation.''There is a short stretch of Swiss autoroute system. And to use the swiss autoroute system a swiss vignette is required (CHf40). Alternatively you can drive through the center of Geneva, if you're fortunate, it may add no more than twenty minutes to your journey". She concluded, while on the other hand, throughout the whole car ride to the airport, Ryan complained to his wolf, while his wolf only added to his distress, instead of relieving him.
" Hope she isn't gon' try anything as she escorts me back to my pack". He Wondered. "Nah, buddy she's gonna try a hell lot of things, actually she already is trying something". His wolf quipped in response. " And one more thing" , his wolf continued, ' it's our pack, not yours alone'. He corrected me. He knows more than anyone how possessive and territorial his wolf can be, he shouldn't have made such a slip-up , without his wolf, he's nothing and vice versa. During the battle that claimed many wolves lives, he had survived and it's all thanks to his wolf.he couldn't have done it alone without the support of his wolf.
