Chapter 4

I walked over to her and tried to hold her, but she crossed her arms, said no, and turned around to face the other side of the room. "Please stop that, you never liked that auction." "Of course not," she said. "Why did you buy her then?" "Believe me," I said in a strong voice. "It was never meant to happen." She was in a lot of pain... Everything on her body was bruised and her eyes were red and swollen. Catherine had to save her. I told a small lie. Even though she was sad, I bought her because I was attracted to her like never before. When I met Catherine for the first time, I felt nothing like what I felt in that hall. That wasn't all, though. I also bought her because I didn't want my fellow Alpha Kings to get the wrong idea and use her. "Isn't this a clear picture?" Her eyes got bigger. "Everyone of those slaves is going through a lot, and she's no different." "So it's illegal to feel sorry for someone?" I screamed. "Why didn't you buy all of them if you felt so sorry for them?" I almost yelled, "Keep it down, Catherine!" because I couldn't stand hearing her fight. "I'm the Alpha king of this kingdom and your husband." And neither you nor anyone else has the right to question what I do or decide. She looked away from me and pressed her lips together in anger. "She's staying, end of story!" I got straight to the point, and I'm glad I did. I know I won't regret it. Catherine tried to speak, but all she could do was grumble. She then locked the door to the toilet and went inside. I let out a short, almost pleased breath. The best thing for her to do and the best place for her to be at that time was likely that. I wanted to lock the door from the outside so she could't get out. I didn't, though. We're going to have a small dinner together, and the last thing I wanted was for her to cause trouble. But I had something else in mind. I'll hold the dinner in a castle area that is less crowded. I went down the stairs and into the kitchen, where I saw people making dinner. Everyone put down what they were doing and bowed to show respect. I agreed, trying to hide my fume. "Is she back at home?" When we got there, I asked the maid who had helped her get inside. "Yes, sir." "All right, then. Send her the blue dress I kept in a box in the storage room and tell her to get ready for dinner with me right away. Isabella ’S POV He tried to reassure me, but I didn't listen because I wasn't sure. I crossed the borders to find out that most of the Alpha kings in that hall, including the one standing in front of me, were just fakes of Logan. They were all beautiful on the outside but evil on the inside. When he saw that I was still, he moved away and let out a worried breath as if he cared. We got to his castle, which was a beautiful Victorian home surrounded by gardens, grounds, and flowers from around the world. From inside the SUV, I could see his uniformed workers and a woman with a smile on her face wearing a sea-green loose dress. She wasn't a servant for sure. She wasn't wearing the uniform, and she seemed more serious than that. I knew right away that she was either his fiancée or his wife. Logan had never been interested in getting married. He thought that marriage was like a worm that took away your freedom and fun. I knew that wasn't true. He liked to change women like clothes, and the thought of being one of those women made my throat hurt. I was shocked when one of the guards stepped down and opened the door for me. Alpha kings could have their guards open the door for someone they thought was a slave? I had no idea that. I learned that his name was Grayson from the people who came to honour him. He told them to take me to a castle room that wasn't being used. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the woman wasn't. When she looked at me, her once-happy face turned sad. When I walked in, I tried to meet her, but she didn't pay attention. Instead, she sped past us, her shoes clomping as she went upstairs. I thought I would be taken to a pretty simple or messy room with little to no furniture for a comfortable stay. But I was shocked to find out that wasn't true. The room had a big bed, a desk, a closet, a fireplace, a vanity table and a big mirror that stood alone in the middle. Even better, the room looked like it hadn't been used in months because it was spotless. I sighed as I walked in, and Logan's last words, "A new life awaits you," kept playing over and over in my mind. I was in a different castle, which could have been the end of my pain or the start of a worse one covered in sugar. Soon after, the door opened, and a maid with a box walked in. I raised an eyebrow when I saw it. Why did she have a box with her? Who sent it, and why now? She spoke like a robot: "The king has told you to get ready to have dinner with him." I called her again to find out who was the woman in the sea-green dress. But she left just as quickly as she came. A meal with him? I shook as I took a big breath. Following all the events of today, that was the last thing on my mind. But who am I to say no? He might punish me like Logan always did if I did. I had no choice but to do what they asked. I just hoped that it would be a dinner with everyone and not just the two of us. When I opened the box and saw a gown, I took a deep breath. I took it out. It was a mermaid dress made of tulle with a V-neck and sparkles in different shades of blue. Each part of the dress sparkled as I thought about it. This item was very pricey; it cost a lot of money. Seeing the dress made me wonder what he had planned for me. What did he want to do with me? Was he going to make me a maid in this house or his s*x slave like Logan? I wasn't against being a maid, but the other choices made me cringe. I took a shower and fixed my face and hair. Even though the dinner made me feel bad, I had to do it to cheer myself up. I didn't want to get dressed, but when I did, I was shocked by how well it fit—it was like it was made just for me. I quickly put on some sandal heels in a neutral colour that I found in my drawer, just in time for the maid to open the door. With that same robot look, she said, "Alpha King Grayson would like to see you now." "Come along with me." The maids who helped me get into the house before weren't as friendly and warm as this one. It was like someone told her not to say anything else to me besides what she was told. I decided it wasn't worth it to ask her any questions after giving it a lot of thought. I went down the hall with her and we turned a corner to find a quiet part of the house. The thought of the underground part of Logan' house where he did the worst things to female omegas like me made my heart race. I hoped she wasn't taking me to a different sale house. She shouldn't. "Please take me somewhere." I asked, my voice shaking with fear. She didn't answer. She just stopped by a door that was open and led me in. When I saw Grayson in a satin midnight blue suit, he looked so soft and pink that I almost fell over. There was a beautiful covering over a small table where he was sitting. A few strategically put candles were the only source of light. He got up right away, shut the door, and led me across the table. He pulled out the chair and, with a smile as big as his shoulders, waved me to sit down. I did, but it was awkward. I could feel his eyes hurting me, and a wave of fear went through me. I saw no other choice but to look into the empty glasses in front of me and avoid his eyes. Every two seconds, I reminded myself that all the Alpha kings were actually devils dressed as angels. Nothing but fake Logan bags. One of the maids just appeared out of nowhere and poured red wine into the cups. She left the bottle on the table in a wine rack. When I took a sip, the coldness of it made me breathe faster. "So, what's your name?" As he took his mouth off of his glass of wine and thought about how sweet or cold it was, he asked. "My name is Isabella ," I stuttered. The fact that he could feel how scared I was made him laugh, as if he found it attractive or funny. I found out there was a kitchen on the other side of the room when the maid came back. The dessert was a simple plate of fruit and cheese with two forks stuck in it. She dropped it and left right away. "Eat up," he said, knowing that I didn't want to. It was hard for me to share a plate with him. In the beginning, I wanted to insist, but I knew that if I did, something bad might happen, so I took a bite from the fork and almost choked on it. He asked after taking a bite, "So how did you end up in the auction?" "My king, I'd rather not talk about it." It sounded like a plea when I said it. His words, "I understand," surprised me. He didn't make me say what he wanted me to say. "Logan is a crazy bad guy. If he wasn't also an Alpha king, I would have cut off all ties with him. When I heard what he said, I almost choked. What made me wonder was whether another Alpha King felt the same way about him as I did. I wasn't sure, though. Maybe he was trying to trick me into talking badly about another person. He could have a recording to catch me, and then I'll be punished severely or even killed.
