"So, toads huh?"
I looked over at him in slight surprise. We made eye contact and that was all it took. We burst out laughing. Not the soft chuckling or giggles but the full blown throw-your-head-back kind of laughter. For almost 30 full seconds, we laughed our hearts out and only the sounds of our laughter filled the car. My laughter slowed as I looked over at David. His cheeks were flushed, and he had the most dazzling smile on his face. He looked so at ease and relaxed. He turned too and met my eyes. He still had that smile and for a moment I forgot how to breathe. He looked beautiful with the sun behind his head. A wistful sigh escaped me as I smiled back at him sheepishly.
