L.J didn't know what to do in the current situation she was in. She looked at Roy, as he smiled at her, his eyes crinkling slightly at the sides. She felt like she was going to melt at his gorgeous laugh. She couldn't think straight, and she wanted to run away at the thought of messing this up. The events leading up to this was like a sign from Cupid, telling her to just go for it.
The school bell rang, snapping L.J's head up her eye's puffy, and her cheek red from sleeping on it for an hour. It was Friday, and L.J had a rough night at the garage last night. She stayed later than usual, not realizing that she has school the next day, as she got too lost in the grease. She walked to lunch to meet up with the guys but ran into someone on the way to their table. She stopped suddenly feeling hot liquid dripping down her shirt. Her eyes shot open completely, and she bit her lip trying not to scream.
"Ouch" Is all she says trying to stay calm, as the guy started rubbing a napkin on her shirt, over her chest trying to dry the coffee stain.
"I am so so sorry" The guys says to her and she snaps her head in his direction about to lecture him, but she saw that it was Roy, and she instantly wanted to giggle.
"Rub away" She says, and he looks at her weirdly, not sure what she meant by that.
"L.J I am really sorry, I didn't mean to" She smiles and grabs his hands in hers.
"It's ok, really, I have plenty of other shirts" She didn't know where this boost of confidence came from, but she felt like she could do anything at this moment.
"Ok" Roy says and chuckles at her.
"Can I at least buy you coffee tomorrow to make it up to you?" He asks her, and she stood stunned for a moment, but then replied with a smile on her face.
"Sure" She says, and he nods, and they both go their separate ways. She walked to the guys and sat down with a love-struck smile on her face. All of them fell quiet when she sat down and looked to her with skeptical faces.
"What happened?" They ask, as they saw the whole coffee spill thing go down. L.J sighed in content and kept down a girlish giggle from coming out.
"I just got asked out for coffee tomorrow" She says, and Aaron gives a tight smile. She didn't know what that meant, but she ignored it not wanting to stop the bliss she was feeling.
"Oh really?" Cam asked her and wiggled his eyebrows at her lightly shoving her with his shoulder.
"Yes, I mean, I don't know why but I did get asked. I can't believe it" She says, and Shane shakes his head at that statement.
"Why can't you believe it?" He asked a little confused.
"Come on, you guys. I'm not attractive like other girls" She gives her honest opinion and Shane scoffs.
"Sure, whatever you say" His voice held irritation and L.J gave him a weird look but didn't mention anything about it any further.
"Anyway, you guys need to come to my house tomorrow morning to help me pick out an outfit please" She says, and they nod. L.J felt ready for this, not worried at all. She felt like everything was going to go great.
And that is how L.J end up sitting with Roy at a coffee shop feeling like she won the lottery. Roy was amazing at almost everything. He was amazing at smiling and talking, and even just sitting! L.J had to restrain herself from not jumping his bones half of the time. She couldn't even focus on what he was saying most of the time, since she could only sit there and daydream about how good he looks when he smiles. L.J was glad that he spilled his coffee on her and didn't mind one bit that it left a redness on her stomach from the hotness.
"So, are you guys best friends?" Roy asks, and she snaps out of her trance.
"Who are best friends?" She asks, not sure what he meant since she didn't concentrate on what he said.
"You and the guys?"
"Oh, yes of course we are. I love them very much" She says smiling at the thought of the guys. They really meant a lot to her, and L.J kept them very close to her heart.
"Oh, I see" L.J was a bit confused about that but didn't get the chance to think or say anything about it, when Roy switched to the next topic.
"And who's your boyfriend?" He asks leaning a bit forward and it took L.J a second, but she burst out laughing, clutching her stomach from pain.
"You think I have a boyfriend?" She wipes the tears away after calming down, and sighs with a smile on her lips.
"Yeah, I just assumed that one of the guys were maybe…involved with you in that way, since you really are pretty" He says, and she felt a slight blush make its way up to her cheeks again, wanting to scold it for embarrassing her.
"No, I don't like them in that way" She says and then looks to the table.
"And aren't into girls like me" She says and shrugs.
"What do you mean girls like you?" Roy sounded irritated and shocked by what L.J said.
"I mean, I'm a tomboy, and at this age you don't get a lot of tomboys. All the other girls wear dresses and does hair and nails. I wear overalls and fix cars and skateboard. I guess I'm not the type of girl that guys want to date" L.J said, and then looked at Roy and found him staring at her with a look she couldn't really figure out.
"Well, I think you're awesome. I mean come on, you fix cars?" He sounded surprised and she didn't know if it was a good thing or not.
"Yeah, I have been since I was sixteen" She says, and they get into a whole conversation of cars and L.J told him all she could think of. She had fun, and she felt better knowing that Roy didn't mind her being different. Maybe there was some hope for L.J after all.
