L.J woke up to the sound of faint angry voices, talking loudly. She wanted to sit upright and yell at them to shut up so that she can rest, but she couldn't move an inch. She tried to open her eyes, but it was as if they were cemented shut for eternity. Her voice didn't even work as usual and she tried to force a sound, any sound, out of her mouth but her vocal chords felt like they were snapped in half. She swallowed a few times making her dry throat feel a bit better and let out a small strained groan.
