Episode 2: The Silence Between Us
Days turned into weeks, and Abike tried to stay strong, but the silence between her and Glory was loud. Each time she opened her phone, her heart ached at the absence of Glory’s name in her chats. They used to talk every day — now, not even a “hi.”
Abike poured herself into school and her new friend, Mufidat. Mufidat was gentle and understanding. She didn’t try to replace Glory but instead became a quiet support, often telling Abike, “Some people are only meant to be part of your journey, not your whole story.”
But deep down, Abike still missed Glory.
Then one day, Abike walked into school and heard whispers. Girls gathered around, casting glances her way and giggling. She overheard someone say, “That’s the one Glory said gossiped about her.”
Her heart sank.
Glory had told people lies. That Abike had said awful things about her. That mufidat was trying to turn her against everyone. The pain of betrayal was deeper than ever.
Later that day, Abike sent Glory one last message:
*“I don’t know why you’re doing this. I loved you like a sister. If you wanted to leave, you could’ve just said so. But to destroy my name on your way out? That’s something I never expected from you.”*
No reply came. But Mufidat stood by her, and slowly, Abike began to rebuild her peace. She wasn’t perfect, but she knew one thing — she had never betrayed Glory. Glory had walked away… and tried to burn the bridge behind her.
Still, Abike left the ashes untouched. She had cried her last tear for someone who didn’t value the truth.
