*Episode 7: The Unexpected Encounter*
It was the final week before school closed. Students buzzed with excitement, laughter echoing through the corridors as everyone prepared for the end-of-year party. Decorations were everywhere—streamers, balloons, and banners reading *“Class of 2026: We Made It!”*
As senior prefect girl, Abike had been busy organizing the event—finalizing lists, confirming performances, arranging seats. She didn’t have much time to think about the past.
Until she saw Glory.
She had returned.
Abike spotted her at the school gate, standing quietly, holding a phone and looking around. Her face hadn't changed much, but there was something different in her eyes—tired maybe, or unsure.
Abike’s heart didn’t skip.
It didn’t race.
It simply settled.
They hadn’t spoken in months. And Abike wasn’t angry anymore. Just... grown.
Their eyes met. Glory hesitated, then slowly walked toward her.
“Hi, Abike,” she said softly.
“Hi,” Abike replied calmly.
There was a pause.
“I didn’t think I’d be back here,” Glory said, managing a half-smile. “But... I heard about the event, and I wanted to see everyone.”
“That’s nice,” Abike said politely.
Glory looked at her for a moment, her voice lower now. “You’ve changed. You seem... happier.”“I am,” Abike said without hesitation.
Glory nodded. “I know I messed things up. I just wanted to say—if it still matters—that I’m sorry.”
Abike didn’t speak right away. She didn’t need to.
“I’ve forgiven you already,” she said after a breath. “But I’m not the same person who begged for your attention anymore. I’ve learned my worth.”
Glory’s face fell slightly, but she nodded with understanding.
“I just wanted you to know that I regret how things ended.”
Abike smiled gently. “Then maybe this is the closure we both needed.”
They parted ways.
No drama.
No bitterness.
Just two people who once called each other best friends, finally understanding that some things are better left in the past.
Later that evening, as music filled the school hall and students danced under the lights, Abike stood with Mufidat, laughing and taking photos. She didn’t look for Glory in the crowd.
She didn’t need to.
She had peace now.
And peace was enough.
