CHAPTER FIVE: The first night.

1045 Words
Ava's POV Ryder Santos in the flesh was very different from the version of him I had in my head. Even though I've seen a couple of photographs of him on the internet attending business meetings and seminars. But in person he's different. He's above 6 feet and it seems he wore a child's cloth because, his shirt looked so tight on his muscled arms and biceps. Those buttons will give way any moment now. He had the familiar black Santos hair and kept a clean stubble, firm cheekbone and a permanent scowl on his lips. His eyes are intimidating and looked cold. I was expecting to see a weak and gloomy man because of how Marie described his excessive drinking habits since the car crash. Not this powerful greek god seated with his father in his home office. Marie was still sleeping and unaware of her son's return. I wanted to go fetch her, but the Don said it was better I leave her to rest. So I left the office and went back to my room for a nap. Today has been quite eventful for me, even though I did practically nothing. While in my room I hear the movement and hushed tone of Robert the Butler, taking what I guess is Ryder's belongings to the room directly opposite from me. I wonder why he didn't go to his room on the second floor, but chose to stay down. Maybe he didn't want to stay close to his mother. With a glance at my wall clock, I realized I needed to give the Don his afternoon medication. Since he didn't take them this morning, it's very important that he gets them now. And I can't wait for him to be ready to take them. I went back to my closet and grab my uniform again, putting it on. This time I did not bother about giving him any food, I just carried my bag containing his drugs. He was still in the office talking with Ryder, I would have let them finish their conversation but I can't. I don't want him to go ten hours straight without his drugs. If his doctor found out I let him, I could lose my job as his In-house nurse. I have to be stubborn like the man, for his own good. As I neared the door to his office, I could hear the Don's voice. In hushed rapid Spanish, it's rare for the Don to speak his native tongue. He only loses his English language when he's angry. But right now I was on a mission so I didn't wait for the storm to come down. I knock twice gently on the door and waited for a response. I hear feets shuffling inside the office and the Don's voice telling me to come in. I gently opened the door and went in. Immediately, Ryder stood up. ‘’I'll leave you to your caregiver now father, I have somethings to take care of now’. He threw his jacket over his shoulder and walked out. He didn't even act like I was standing there. I felt awkward just standing by the door. The Don looked flushed and tired. So I quickly performed my job, gave him his medicine and carried my things out. He was visibly relieved as I closed the door behind me. By the time I got to the hallway leading to the vast sitting room, I saw the Cadillac leaving through the large window. Where is he going, I wondered. Marie didn't even know he was back and now he's leaving. I made a mental note to check on her before dinner time. I need to write my daily report on the Don's condition, so I hurried to my room. After finishing the report I took a cold shower and decided to lie down for just ten minutes, before dinner was ready. I woke up tired and one glance at my clock told me I slept past dinner time. I must have been really exhausted to have slept that long. I'm feeling sore and weak, so I just stayed in bed. But I'm very hungry now. Because I skipped lunch and dinner. I'm going to the kitchen to get a little make up dinner for myself. I wear just my cream colored nightgown that stops just above my thighs, with nothing under it. I totally forgot there's a man in the house now, in the dining I settled for something quick so I just microwaved the bacon I found in the refrigerator. I sat down on the kitchen table to eat my meal by myself. When I was done eating. I poured some wine for myself. A glass and a half later and I was tipsy. I felt like a high school student who was doing what I should not be doing. I've never been drunk before. I didn't even know why I took two damn glasses, I’m sure I'll be a mess by tomorrow. I stumbled and fell when I reached my door. When I got up, I couldn't find my door knob. So I spent a few minutes running my hands on the door before I found it. I smiled in victory for locating the door knob. I opened it and went in, but a foot through the door stopped me from closing it. I looked up and locked eyes with the owner. Ryder's eyes was dark and droopy, like he was just getting out of bed. I opened the door with our eyes still locked on each other's. He came in, then I noticed his bare chest and strong torso. Those strong biceps looked like tree trunks, I imagine running my hands on them to find out how smooth his skin will feel. For some reason I was not scared of him, so when he closed the door behind him and backed me up against the wall. Our eyes were still locked on each other. And when he held both hands above my head with his left hand while his right hand started drawing lines on my thighs and disappeared beneath my gown. I couldn't help but think that this will be the first night, and many more are bound to follow.
