Chapter Ten: One Day My Prince Won't Come

779 Words
I dreamed that day while we slept. I dreamed of my Florian. Who knew if that was his name in this realm? I doubted it. But my dream. I knew it was more than just a dream.   Florian laid on a stone slab covered by a white glass cover. His eyes were closed. I stood over him and watched as he laid there unmoving.   “Lilly…” I hear my name and I look behind me. There he stands. He looks different, but he is still my Florian.   I throw my arms around him, tears streaming down my face. “I missed you, Florian.”   He smiles and kisses the top of my head. “My name isn't Florian in this life my dear. It's Daren.” I smile, “I don't care what your name is. I just care that I get to see you.”   He lets out a quiet laugh. Then looks at me his face growing serious. I look at him, he is different his hair is long and white, his eyes a dark brown color.   “I'm sorry, I won't be coming to rescue you,  princess. I guess it's your turn to rescue me.” He gently caresses my face wiping away my tears.   “But I don't know where you are. I don't even know where to look, Daren.” I say my heart aching.   “As much as I want to tell you where I am, I can't. But I know you. You'll find me.” He tells me pulling me closer to him.   “How?” I ask.   “Follow your heart. Let it guide you. You need to trust your instincts. You will find me. This time you will be waking me up.”   I nod and lean my head on his chest, his scent is intoxicating. The smell of sweet pine and honey.   “Lilly listen to me; we don't have much time. You need to go and gather all the other Princesses. Once you all are together you need to seek all of us princes out. I know you have found Eric. That's good to keep him with you.” He tells me his voice sounding urgent.   “How do I find them all?” I ask my heart full of confusion and fear.   “Use the curse you were given. One of the others has the gift of sight. She will help you find us. But be careful my Lilly. The Princes could be a danger to you all if you do not have their true loves with you.”   “I see.” I say quietly.   “Promise me, Lilly, I need you to swear you will not seek the other Princes out until you have gathered all the Princesses together.” He lifts my face and stares into my eyes.   “I swear Daren, I will not seek them out. Not until I have the others.” I promise him.   “One more thing, be careful. The witches are on the move. They will begin the hunt soon. If they catch you it will all be over. For all of us. Stay safe and keep your guard up.”   I nod and smile at him my tears coming back.   “I love you, Lilly.” He says.   “I love you to Daren,” I barely get the words out before everything fades away and I wake up. But something inside me had changed. The I love you we spoke didn’t feel as it once did. Things were different.   My pillow is wet from my tears, I sit up and sob quietly. Eric comes and sits next to me.   “Are you okay Lilly?” He asks hugging me,   I shake my head. “No. I saw him. Florian, except his name is Daren in this life.”   “He spoke to you?” Eric asks quietly.   “Yes, and this time he won't be rescuing me. It's up to me to rescue him.” I say feeling determined.   “Anything else I should know about?” Eric asks.   “He said to gather all the Princesses, and then go find the other Princes. He also told me the witches are on the hunt. We need to get the others fast.” I tell him.   “Then that's what we will do Lilly.”   “Hey, Eric?” I ask.   “Yeah, Lilly?”   “If I am going to be the rescuer, I want you to teach me how to fight.” I tell him pulling away and giving him a look of determination and focus.   He smiles, “You got it, Princess.”
