CHAPTER 4

CAELIUM VOSS’S POV I was roused from sleep by the constant vibration of my phone against the pillow. Slowly, I opened my eyes, and I could still feel the warmth and softness of Eliara’s body pressed close to my side. I reached out to grab my phone and answered it immediately. “Hello,” my voice came out low, cold, and deep—my usual baritone tone. “King! Good morning, Your Majesty! Your father has been looking for you since earlier. We have an urgent, important meeting scheduled right now!” my subordinate said, his voice laced with clear worry. I didn’t reply right away. Instead, I slowly turned my head to look at the woman lying beside me. She was still fast asleep, breathing steadily and peacefully. Her face was half-buried in the pillow, a few stray strands of hair falling across her features—but even so, I could still see clearly just how breathtakingly beautiful she was. She’s so beautiful even while sleeping… she looks like a pure angel sent straight down from heaven. I shifted my gaze away, and a smirk tugged at the corner of my lips when my eyes landed on the mark I’d left on her neck—the bite that served as my seal, proof that she was mine, now and forever. There was no turning back. No escape possible. “King? Are you still there, Your Majesty?” my subordinate called out again, pulling me back to reality. “Copy that. I’ll take a shower first. I’ll be there in an hour,” I replied briefly, ending the call and placing my phone back on the bedside table. I turned my attention back to Eliara. Gently, I brushed my fingers across her cheek—her skin was so soft, smooth and delicate like fine porcelain. “You are so beautiful, my Queen,” I whispered, my voice thick with undeniable possession. “From this moment on, you are mine and mine alone. You will never be able to run away from me again… and I will never, ever let you out of my sight.” Slowly, I got out of bed and headed to the bathroom to take a shower, leaving her sleeping soundly and peacefully. I had no idea that the moment I stepped back out… she would be gone. ELIARA RIVERA’S POV I woke up with a throbbing headache and a dull, aching soreness spreading all over my body. Slowly, I opened my eyes and reached out to grab my phone from the side of the bed—only to find nothing there. I sat up abruptly, my hands instinctively clutching the blanket wrapped around me. My eyes widened in shock as the realization hit me… I had nothing on. I was completely naked! And every part of my body ached and throbbed—most especially the sensitive area between my legs. “No way… what… what happened last night?!” I asked myself, my hands trembling uncontrollably. And then, all the memories came flooding back in one sharp wave. Vico’s betrayal and lies… me drinking until I was drunk out of my mind… the moment I met Caelium… and the night I had given myself to him completely. And then his words echoed in my head: “I am a vampire… and I am the King of all vampires.” Oh my God! It was all real! This wasn’t a dream! I was lying in bed right next to a creature of legend—a monster! A Vampire King who had claimed every single part of me throughout the entire night! When I heard the sound of running water coming from the bathroom, I froze in place. He’s taking a shower! He could walk out at any second! And when he sees me here… I had no idea what he would do. Fear and panic coiled tight in my chest. I scrambled out of bed, nearly tripping and falling flat on my face because my legs felt so weak and my body still ached terribly. I grabbed all my clothes scattered across the floor and pulled them on as fast as I could—even though they were all wrinkled and messy, I didn’t care. All that mattered was getting dressed and getting away as fast as possible. I spotted my phone lying under the bed, grabbed it, and was just about to rush out of the room when suddenly… the bathroom door swung open. I wanted to scream, but I immediately clamped my hand over my mouth to muffle any sound. Overcome with fear and panic, I didn’t dare turn around to face him. Instead, I quickly pulled open the bedroom door and ran—ran as fast as my trembling legs could carry me. I didn’t stop running. I didn’t even pay attention to the people I passed by or bumped into along the way. The only thought in my mind was getting as far away from that place as possible… getting as far away from him as I possibly could. It was only when I burst out of the building that I realized where I was… I was still in the VIP area of the very same bar I had visited the night before. I didn’t waste a single second. I immediately flagged down a passing taxi. The moment it stopped, I jumped inside and slammed the door shut behind me with all my strength—like I was terrified someone was right on my heels, ready to chase me down. “Sir! Take me to the Villa! Please, hurry!” I told the driver, my voice trembling and coming out hoarse from fear and exhaustion. The driver simply nodded and stepped on the gas, pulling away from the curb immediately. As the taxi sped down the road, I stared blankly out the window, my heart pounding so hard against my ribs I thought it might burst right out of my chest. What have I done? I asked myself over and over again. I had a one-night stand with a Vampire King! And now… I’m running away from him like a coward.
