Chapter One — The First Pull

302 Words
ome people meet by chance. Others meet because the universe has been quietly pulling them toward each other long before they even know it. For Adrian Blake, love was never part of the plan. At twenty-eight, he had everything people dreamed of—wealth, confidence, a successful business, and a life carefully built around control. He believed emotions were distractions, and relationships were temporary. Then he met Elena Carter. She was standing alone beneath the rain outside a small coffee shop, holding a broken umbrella and trying desperately to keep the papers in her hands from getting soaked. Adrian noticed her from inside his black luxury car. He should have driven away. Instead, something made him stop. He stepped out of the car and walked toward her. “Are you okay?” he asked. Elena looked up. For a moment, neither of them spoke. Their eyes met, and Adrian felt something he couldn't explain. It was strange. Almost like gravity. Like an invisible force was pulling him closer to a woman he had never seen before. “I’m fine,” Elena finally answered, forcing a small smile. “Just having a terrible day.” Adrian glanced at her broken umbrella. “I can see that.” She laughed softly. And somehow, that simple sound stayed in his mind. Adrian removed his coat and held it over her head. “Come with me.” Elena looked at him suspiciously. “Why?” He paused. He didn't have an answer. “I don't know,” he admitted. “I just feel like I’m supposed to.” Elena stared at him. Neither of them knew it yet, but that moment would change everything. Because sometimes, love doesn't ask permission. It simply pulls two people together— like magnets that were never meant to stay apart.
