Tears threatened to fall, but I held them back as I rubbed my eyes with the back of my hand.
The man from earlier took his seat staring at me with his golden eyes."How old are you?" His voice wasn't less scary.
With my heart racing in my chest, I couldn't find my voice as all I did was stare at him like a maniac. Furiously, he slammed his hand on the table, startling my little trembling heart.
Anger burned in his eyes as he stared at me as if he wanted to eat me. I learned from Lily how cruel the alpha was but I didn't think for once that it was this bad.
The door swung open and Philip strode in and a frown plastered on the Alpha's face obviously not excited with him intruding but I on the other hand felt grateful because the tension in the room somehow reduced with Philip's present "you are not invited." he roared in anger but Philip didn't flinched.
"Calm down alpha, Karl." he said with a smile. I somehow got the feeling that alpha Karl and Philip were somehow related or perhaps it was one of my imaginations?
"Alpha Kane has sent words concerning the treaty" he announced, wiping his lips as he glared at me from the corner of his eyes.
"Is he ready to accept the conditions?" He asked, I could still feel his rage. My legs started shaking in fear like I was going down any minute.
I have never come face to face with an alpha before. Mom told me alphas were dangerous and cruel but I didn't know I would meet one this soon. Besides I have always wanted to know what a pack looks like but not scary alphas!
He strode to my side and grabbed my chin. His grip tightened at every second that passed.
"He said nothing about the treaty but am sure we will come to that once he arrives." he said firmly with his head held a little low.
"Take her away from here!" he pushed me and I landed on the floor. I shook the blood off my hand with tears draining from my eyes.
"Come on, let go." Philip leaned me in his hand.
"I need you here. Beta Edward will send her to the kitchen." he said looking through the documents before him for Philip to nod slowly.
I followed the beta down the hall to the kitchen. It was a big space with a grand hall with chairs and tables. Each table had at least six chairs. It was kind of hard for me to count the tables since beta Edward kept running his legs without giving me time to catch up.
" You girls should hurry, our guests will be arriving soon." a woman in her early thirties said moving back and forth to the kitchen.
"I heard the cruel alpha from the ring moon pack is visiting. I don't think Alpha Karl will let him off the hook after he killed his father."
They shut their mouths immediately as they sensed the presence of beta Edward who was looking cold and silent.
"Helena.'' He called the woman and suddenly the whole place became void of any kind of noise.
Everyone seemed concentrated on what they were doing leaving zero room for chit chat.
The aroma in the kitchen triggered something in my stomach as it cried out loudly making me a little embarrassed. I could feel Beta Edward staring down at me but it wasn't my fault considering the fact that I hadn't eaten any proper meal for that long. Mom cooks better, but I could tell this food smells more delicious than the one mom usually cooks for us.
"This is Leona, she will be working here," he said.
My eyes stared round the place and noticed none of the workers were my age. I was going to be the youngest around here just like in the cell
"Go with her!" He growled, scaring the hell out of me and I hurriedly followed Helena with my head still held low.
"Who is she?" that didn't pass me.
"I think she is one of the slaves." the other person responded, which was a very mean thing to say.
"You will clean the floor after everything but for now you will have to wash the plates and make sure to do a good job without breaking any." she scolded even though I was yet to start the work and pushed me towards the dozen plates in the sink.
My heart sank in my chest! as if they purposely kept them waiting for my arrival.
I raised my head and she was gone. I thought I would prefer living in the dungeon rather than among people who look at me differently as if I am some kind of alien.
They seem disgusted by my presence.
"What are you waiting for? Do I have to teach you how to wash those?"
I shook my head immediately and lowered myself to sit on the chair but before I could make myself comfortable, Helena appeared and pulled the chair and I landed on the cold floor as I felt pain around my waist. She grinned at me like anifiot and threw her hair behind swaying her flexible waist. I picked myself up and kept it going. There was no one to complain or cry to except myself.
I didn't know the time, but everywhere was dark and everyone was gone. I couldn't believe they had forgotten about me after.
I rubbed my tummy, throwing my glare around, searching for something to ease my hangover. I walked to the oven, but it was empty. My tummy gave out a loud noise startling me, I haven't eaten anything since morning and Helena didn't remember to give me food after ordering me around all day.
I stiffened when I heard voices coming from one of the rooms. It looks like I have got company which wasn't a good idea. I didn't want to get scolded, I followed the sounds curiously, not sure what I was searching for. At some point I had to tiptoed in the dark like a scary cat hidden from a master cat because I couldn't take any risk.
I stopped in front of the blue door where the voices seemed to be emerging from.
I moved a little closer but turned to walk away before I was caught.
I can't risk eavesdropping. But something caught my attention and my feet glued to the marble floor.
"You know it won't be easy to get rid of him." I heard a man's voice. I wondered who they were referring to.
"Alpha Kane may be a beast but that does not make him an immortal. I will get my revenge on him. It may not work if we use a sword, how about a poison?" I covered my mouth with both hands to not make a sound.
Who was this alpha Kane? And why does alpha Karl want to kill him?
"I think the decision is already made. I will finally get my revenge on him."
Alpha Karl's last words made sense but that did not guarantee him to take a person's life...
