LET THE PAST GO

David’s P.O.V.   I sighed as I saw the retreating figure of my daughter. I wanted her to move on from her mother’s death and live life like another teenager of her age. I wanted her to be happy forever and had peaceful sleep with good dreams every night instead of that f****ng nightmare.   We were poor back then and I didn’t have a stable source of income. My wife Sarah was a housewife and the best life partner. Though she was from a good family but she left everything only for being with me as we both love each other madly. She never complains even a bit and always stood beside me in every situation. Then we had our Steph. We were happy till that night.   I sighed again and sat on the stool near Isle.   “What I do Sarah”, I murmured while talking to the image of my wife in front of my eyes. I felt that she smiled and a small smile spread on my lips.   After some time, I came out of my trance and looked towards the empty room in front of me. I stood up from my place and place all the plates and mugs in the sink. Then cleaned the kitchen and headed towards the back yard.   Steph was punching hardly on the sandbag. I instantly marched towards her and stopped her for punching again and took her hands in my hands. She immediately tried to j******f her hands but I gave her a stern look. Her knuckles were bleeding. I closed my eyes in pain and then shook my head.   “Let’s go Steph”, I said her in a low voice. What I do to make her feel better.   She silently followed me inside our home. I went towards the cupboard in the kitchen for bringing the First Aid Kit while she sat at a stool. I brought the kit and then took her one hand again in my hand. I cleaned the blood with a cotton bud soaked in disinfectant. She didn’t even flinch a little. Then I gently put the ointment on the wounds. “Remember you have a fight tomorrow night. What do you think? Will they heal before fight?”, I asked him with hurt in my eyes. She scoffed as she cared. “I will take care of it”, and then looked away from me. She was angry with me. We both were struggling hard to forget that frightful night. But she had to work harder than this. “Steph… baby.. try to understand your dad… you are my only family. It’s you for whom I am taking breath… please try to understand me”, I pleaded and she lowered down her eyes. I instantly pulled her in my embrace. She leaned more and then sighed. We stayed like this for a few minutes. Then she stepped away from me. “I will try Dad, but please don’t plead… it… it hurts”, she said while still lowering her gaze. I kissed her forehead and then patted her back.   “I have to go Dad otherwise I will be late for my first class”, she said while going towards her room.     Steph’s P.O.V.   I reached college 5 minutes before the first bell rang. I quickly headed towards my locker and immediately pulled out the books and other stuff needed for my first two classes.   I locked my locker and almost ran towards my first class. I was pursuing the Business Management bachelor course and was in 2nd Year. I really hate attention. So, I always avoided popular and rich people at the university. I never tried meddling any business with them. I was a scholarship student. I am a nerd and there were two reasons behind being a nerd. First I love study and second I don’t like to socialize myself. I loved my personal space and wanted to be there always.   As I was about to enter the classroom, someone called me by my name and I looked back. I saw Noah running towards me while waving his hands at me. I sighed to see the person who called and without answering back I marched towards my seat.   I settled on my seat when Noah came and sat beside me while panting harshly. “Why didn’t you stop?”, he asked me after catching his breath. I just ignored him and opened my book. He waited few seconds for my answer then sighed. “Why do you hate me so much Stephany?”, he asked me a sad tone and I rolled my eyes. I looked towards him. There was hurt expression in his eyes. I closed my eyes and lowered my gaze. “Noah… you know I don’t hate you. I just… why don’t you give up on Me.”, I yelled a little bit in the last. “I can’t”, he blurted out instantly. I was about to say something when our Static’s teacher entered the classroom. I sighed again and then we opened our books. It was going to be a long day. Our teacher started telling us about today’s topic but my mind was not in study today. I was thinking about Noah who was sitting beside me and was writing something in his notebook.   Noah Williams, one of the rich popular bad boys of the college. He was about 6 feet and a little taller than my 5 feet 6 inches height. He has silky brown hairs, deep green color eyes which I like most, a well define handsome face and a well-managed body. He was captain of the College football team and impressively straight A grade student like me. I was pursuing me since the first day of my college and ever since I was trying hard to be away from him. But all in vain. It was not like I really hate him. He was a nice boy … could say .. nice towards me. He always respected my decision and never tried to be clingy upon me. That’s what I liked about him most. He was so attractive that he could have any girl he wants. Even so many Barbie doll’s of our college tried hardly to seduce him but he never showed any interest in them. He despised these kinds of girls who could do anything to gain some attention. Suddenly I felt someone poking my arms. I came out of my trance and looked towards Noah who had confusing look. Then I heard my teacher calling my name.   “Ms. Macfield… you know.. daydreaming is not allowed in my class”, he mocked at me with a  scoff. “I… I am sorry Sir.. I zoned out”, I apologized instantly. “Better be alert next time Ms. Macfield”, he said in a stern voice and I nodded in affirmation. “Now please tell us about Designed experiments in random sampling”, he repeated his question again. I stood up at my spot and then explain all the terms and requirement of Designed experiments. He knew that I was not the kind of students who attend college just to get a degree. When I finished, I just bowed a little and then he nodded. “Very well explain Ms. Macfield. Please sit down and rest of you, please note down the topic according to your enrollment number for your next assignment”, he said and motioned me to sit. The rest class went smooth. I immediately pack my bag and hurried towards out just to ignore Noah when the bell rang. But it was not going to work as Noah was on my tail. “Steph… stop… Hey… Steph”, he called me from behind but I ignored him completely and headed towards my locker almost running. Suddenly, I tripped on someone legs and almost hit the ground. All my books scattered on the ground and I rolled my eyes. Here comes the she-devil.
