"Alright, y'all listen up! Listen up!" I leaned against the wooden fence and tipped my hat down to shield a bit of that blazing sun as I waited for the young campers to settle down. They hardly paid me no mind as they went on cajoling, shoving each other, complaining out loud about the heat. I picked up my whistle and blew it for 5 straight seconds until they were covering their ears in irritation. It was like this every morning, trying to get these kids' attention. I ran a program on my farm. Some call it camp, others rehabilitation services. Me, I just called it 'work' plain and simple.
