The Beast’s Last Memory

Episode 13: The Beast’s Last Memory The battlefield fell silent. The Shadow Beast stood motionless, its enormous crimson eye fixed on Nita. Its deep, broken voice echoed across the valley. “Luna…” Every werewolf stared in disbelief. Kael’s smile vanished. “No…” The beast had never spoken before. Not once in centuries. Nita tightened her grip on the Moonfang Sword. “Why did it call me that?” Lucien’s expression darkened. “It remembers.” “Remembers what?” Before he could answer, the Shadow Beast let out a mournful howl. It wasn’t filled with rage. It was filled with pain. The creature slowly lowered its massive head, as though struggling against an invisible force. Its chains rattled violently. Kael’s eyes widened. “Control it!” he shouted. Several dark-cloaked shamans rushed forward, chanting ancient spells. Black smoke wrapped itself around the beast’s body. The creature screamed. Its red eye flickered… Then, for a brief second… It turned brilliant blue. Lucien stepped forward, his voice trembling. “It can’t be…” Nita looked at him. “What?” Lucien whispered only one name. “Magnus.” The Shadow Beast raised its head again. This time, it looked directly at Lucien. A single tear rolled down its scarred face. “My… Alpha…” Lucien closed his eyes. “So it really is you.” Nita’s heart skipped a beat. “You know him?” Lucien nodded slowly. “He wasn’t a monster.” “He was my greatest warrior.” ⸻ Centuries earlier… Magnus had been the captain of Lucien’s Royal Guard. He had sworn to protect the First Luna with his life. When the Great War began, he refused to abandon his king. To save the kingdom, Magnus fought an army alone. Kael’s ancestors captured him. Instead of killing him… They experimented on him. Dark blood magic twisted his body. Year after year… Century after century… The brave warrior disappeared beneath the monster. Until only the Shadow Beast remained. ⸻ Back in the present… Nita felt tears sting her eyes. “So he’s been suffering all this time…” Lucien nodded. “For five hundred years.” The beast suddenly roared in agony. The black smoke tightened around its body. Kael raised both hands. “I command you!” “Destroy them!” The beast hesitated. Its body trembled violently. It looked at Nita again. Then at Lucien. It was fighting the spell. Kael snarled. “Obey!” The shamans chanted louder. Dark symbols spread across the beast’s skin. Its blue eye turned red again. With a deafening roar, it charged. Straight toward Nita. “Look out!” Adrian shouted. He leaped in front of her. The Shadow Beast swung its enormous claw. CRASH! Adrian was thrown across the battlefield, crashing through several ancient pillars. “Adrian!” Nita cried. She ran toward him, but the Shadow Beast blocked her path. It raised one massive claw. Nita closed her eyes. Then… A warm voice echoed inside her mind. “Do not fear him.” She opened her eyes. The Moonfang Sword glowed brighter than ever before. Without thinking, she reached out and gently placed her hand against the beast’s scarred muzzle. Everyone gasped. Instead of attacking… The Shadow Beast froze. Tears streamed from its eyes. “I remember…” it whispered. “I… failed… to protect… my Luna…” Nita smiled through her tears. “No.” “You never failed.” “You survived.” The Moonfang Sword released a wave of pure silver light. It spread through the beast’s body, burning away the black markings of blood magic. The chains shattered. One by one. The crimson glow in its eyes disappeared. For the first time in five hundred years… The Shadow Beast was free. But as the darkness left him, his enormous body began to fade into silver light. Magnus looked at Lucien one last time. “I’m sorry… my king.” Lucien stepped forward, emotion breaking through his calm expression. “You kept your oath.” Magnus smiled peacefully. “Protect… our Luna…” With those final words, his body dissolved into countless glowing silver particles that floated into the night sky. The battlefield was silent. Even Kael’s soldiers lowered their heads. Kael, however, clenched his fists in fury. “You’ve ruined everything!” His eyes burned with hatred as dark energy gathered around him. “If I can’t control the kingdom…” “…I’ll destroy it.” The ground beneath the Moon Temple suddenly split open. A deep, thunderous roar echoed from the darkness below. Lucien’s face turned pale. “No…” “He wouldn’t dare.” The earth shook violently. Ancient stone cracked. Something far older than the Shadow Beast was awakening beneath Blackthorn Forest.
