Nita’s heart pounded.
The strange feeling in her chest refused to disappear.
It wasn’t fear.
It was something older.
Something… calling to her.
She threw off her blanket and hurried out of her room.
The corridors of the Moon Temple were silent, bathed in silver moonlight.
Adrian caught up with her.
“Nita, wait!”
“I can feel someone.”
He frowned.
“What do you mean?”
“It feels like…” She pressed a hand against her chest. “…like they’re calling my name.”
Without another word, she followed the feeling deep into the temple.
⸻
Meanwhile…
In the Hall of Ancestors…
The hooded figure knelt before the ancient coffin.
The white-haired man slowly sat upright.
His glowing blue eyes scanned the chamber.
“How long?” he asked, his voice deep and cold.
The hooded figure lowered their head.
“Five hundred years, Your Majesty.”
The man closed his eyes briefly.
“So… the curse endured.”
“It did.”
“And the Last Luna?”
“She has awakened.”
A faint smile appeared on the man’s face.
“Then destiny cannot be stopped.”
He stood.
The icy air surrounding him froze the stone floor beneath his feet.
“My wolves…”
The hooded figure hesitated.
“They are gone.”
Silence.
Every muscle in the man’s body tensed.
“They all died protecting the throne.”
His expression remained unreadable.
Then he whispered,
“I failed them.”
⸻
Back in the corridor…
Nita stopped before a massive iron door engraved with a crescent moon.
The pendant around her neck began to glow.
“So this is where the feeling is coming from,” she murmured.
Adrian looked alarmed.
“No.”
“We shouldn’t go in.”
“Why?”
“That chamber has been sealed for centuries.”
Before he could stop her…
The pendant floated from her neck.
It touched the ancient lock.
Click.
The doors slowly creaked open.
A freezing wind rushed past them.
Inside…
The chamber was empty.
Or so it seemed.
Then a voice echoed from the darkness.
“You’ve grown.”
Nita spun around.
Standing at the center of the room was the white-haired man.
He wore black armor trimmed with silver, and a weathered crown rested upon his head.
His piercing blue eyes settled on Nita.
For a long moment, neither of them spoke.
Then…
He smiled.
“You have your mother’s eyes.”
Nita’s breath caught.
“You… knew my mother?”
“I knew her before she was born.”
Adrian immediately stepped in front of Nita.
“State your name.”
The man’s smile faded.
“You no longer recognize your own king?”
Adrian narrowed his eyes.
“I serve no king.”
The stranger chuckled softly.
“You have your father’s stubbornness.”
Adrian froze.
“My… father?”
The man nodded.
“He was my Beta.”
Nita looked between them in confusion.
“What is happening?”
The stranger took a slow step forward.
“My name…”
“…is Lucien.”
“The First Alpha.”
Silence swallowed the room.
Adrian’s face turned pale.
“That’s impossible.”
“The First Alpha died five centuries ago.”
Lucien’s eyes darkened.
“No.”
“I was imprisoned.”
“By those I trusted.”
Nita noticed the sorrow in his voice.
“Who imprisoned you?”
He looked toward the moon shining through the temple ceiling.
“The woman I loved.”
Nita blinked.
“The First Luna.”
Lucien nodded once.
“To save the world…”
“…she sacrificed us both.”
Suddenly—
A thunderous explosion shook the temple.
A young warrior burst through the doorway, panting.
“Alpha Adrian!”
“They’re here!”
“Who?”
“The Blood Fang Legion!”
“They’ve surrounded the temple!”
Another explosion echoed outside.
The walls trembled violently.
Lucien slowly turned toward the entrance.
His blue eyes glowed.
“So…”
“The war begins tonight.”
As he walked past Adrian and Nita, every torch in the temple burst into icy blue flames.
For the first time in five hundred years…
The First Alpha was going back to war.
