A toast

In a beat up car sat Luna driving her way on a dirt road. Her face was still swollen and her bruises were turning all sorts of shades brown. Her clothes were wrinkled and dirty, her expression of mere exhaustion. As she came to an area that was more familiar she chose a spot to dump the stolen car. She drove it behind some trees and hid it well so it could not be seen from the road. Then she started trudging through the forest towards the area she was seeking. She had lost her shoes a long time ago, so she was walking barefoot through the thick forest ground. But she did not seem to mind, she looked determined and hardened. As the walk took a long time the day turned to dusk. And right as she would think it would get dark before she got there she could see a small huddle of houses. In the middle she saw the house she was looking for. She walked towards them, and popping up from over the rolling his came in view many more houses. The place seems abandoned, it was quiet and eerie. Luna just sighed and walked on, she walked up to the large house and opened the front door. Inside was vacant and dark. She walked up the stairs with heavy steps, got to the bedroom she was looking for and started to undress. She then went and took a shower getting off all the dirt, grime and smell of her. After a long shower she looked at herself in the mirror and made a face of disgust at her bruises. She picked up a bottle of lotion and started to put it on all over. She dabbed it carefully over her face, then put chapstick on even more gently. Picking up a cup and filling it with water she started to sway. She quickly gulped down all the water, then she continued to do the same several times. As she was now finally hydrating she got the urge to go to the bathroom, so she sat down and sighed at the relief of sitting down. She almost fell asleep as she was relieving herself. She got up and washed her hands, then dragged her feet to bed. She fell into the mattress and just rolled the sheets over her naked body and fell right to sleep.  “Well, that went better than I thought.” James scoffed as he sat into the car. John was gripping the steering wheel so hard his hands turned white. “She wasn’t here either. Where is she James?” John’s face was hard and he stared in front of him not even glancing at James. In the backseat Xavier sighed “we don’t know John, but every warrior is out there looking for her.” James patted John on his shoulder “Luna is ok, I know it. It’s just who she is.” Xavier just nodded his head at that. John dropped his head, he looked like he was going to break down. He shook his head and gave a small sniffle. “I can’t live without her.” Madden got into the backseat as he said that “You don’t have to buddy, she’s going to be ok. And we will find her.” John nodded his head while still having it hanging low to his chest. Then he straightened up and started the car. They all drove in silence back to pack grounds. Behind them were a large group of warriors left, to guard the new pack. It had settled down after a long day of chaos. The pack elites had ran off when they felt their alpha die. And John had to deal with the chaos they left.  As they drove up to John’s house they noticed some of the lights were on. They got out of the car without talking, their eyes glazing over. Then made their way inside without any sound. One by one they walked up the stairs and got to John’s bedroom. He opened the door slowly and they all walked in to find Luna sleeping in his bed. James just snorted as he whispered “told you.” Then they all grinned, they all gave a pat on John’s shoulder as he cried some tears. Slowly they all walked out to leave John and Luna alone. He took of his clothes and snuck into bed with her, spooning her from behind. He grabbed her softly and pulled her in, and as he did that Luna made a soft moan. He slowly caressed her hair as he whispered to her “I love you so much Luna.” Then he put his face close to her neck and took a deep breath of her scent. He looked calm and relieved now, the scent soothing him.  Downstairs sat James, Xavier and Madden. They were sipping at a glass each with an amber clear liquid. James just shook his head as he spoke “I can’t believe the pack just let us take over like that. They didn’t fight, didn’t really seem to mind. It’s like they thought this was just another Tuesday.” Xavier nodded “it’s the weirdest thing, it seems like they were not at all affected by their alpha dying.” Madden looked deep into his own thoughts. He hummed a bit before he joined the conversation “Well we thought he was an utter *sshole, maybe his pack thought the same?” They all just gave each other a look, like they had no clue what to think. The three men fell silent again and continued sipping on their drink. After a while Madden slapped his knee and chuckled “I can’t believe she killed an alpha, and with a screw!” They all started grinning, then laughing. Xavier then added “we sure did get the fiercest Luna there is.” James nodded “we did, we have been gifted with Luna.” They all nodded, then James raised his glass “to John and Luna.” Xavier and Madden raised their glass to that, then sipped the rest of the drink.
