Chapter 15- Anna

We end up having a lot of fun at the bonfire, despite my misgivings about it. It turns out to be a really good night.
Katy met up with her cousins and their friends and after last time I was dreading it, but Jambo and Travis bowed to me and greeted me respectfully which I did not expect.
They then not only kept their distance but ensured the other unmated males kept a respectful distance too. I start to think maybe I had been wrong about them, and I feel guilty for being so harsh last time.
After a while I sat in the seat next to Jambo and I thanked him for showing us the courtesy he had. “That’s no problem, Miss Lilianna my Alpha has shown me the error of my ways, I’m sorry I was such an asshole last time. I’ve done some growing up since then.”
His Alpha, the intriguing man whose reputation contradicts what I have encountered of him. “I hope you didn’t get into too much trouble; I did try to tell him it was my fault but he’s scary!”
Jambo laughs a little, “It was my own fault, and it wouldn’t have mattered what you had said because Alpha heard everything anyway.”
We made small talk for a short while and before my pack was due to leave, he asked for a word in private. “Sorry Jambo, no can do. I’m not allowed.”
I point to the chaperones he nods, and I notice that his cheeks colour slightly. “So, I guess you still believe in the Moon Goddess and fated mates then?” I feel uncomfortable with his line of questioning..
Jambo does seem like a nice young man now, and I’m sure he’ll make a good mate for someone. “I do.”
He gives me a small smile. “Well if it doesn’t work out, look me up okay? I think you're beautiful.”
Oh, my goodness I feel like my face is on fire. “Goodbye Jambo.”
“Good luck Miss Lilianna”.
It feels nice to part on good terms with him, I don’t think I’d ever see him as mate material for myself, but I appreciate the gesture he made today.
I look up and see the Scarlet Moon Alpha watching me from afar. He gives me a small nod in recognition before turning back to his guests. I feel like my whole body is covered in goosebumps, just from one look. How is that even possible? Perhaps there is a chill in the air? For a tiny moment I felt scorched, and then it was gone leaving me feeling cold.
Before we leave screens illuminate around the beach, and grainy footage starts to roll. From the shouts and growls around the place, I think it’s safe to say this wasn’t meant to happen.
Our chaperones descend on us, trying to shield our innocent eyes and cover our untainted ears.
It was footage of a man being intimate with lots of different she-wolves, from the shouts around the camp, I hear it’s the Scarlet Moon Alphas Brother. Alpha Adam commands us all to return to our coaches to take us home.
Once we are on the coach, all talk is about the Scarlet Moon Alphas brother and his indecent, obscene, and crude behaviour. I did catch a few glimpses of the footage, but it was so embarrassing that I looked away.
Katy is really quiet on the way home, and she’s short with me when I ask her what is wrong “I’m fine Anna, stop fussing!”
It’s not like her, but I back off regardless.“Oh Anna I’m sorry, I don’t know what is wrong with me, I feel on edge, nervous and annoyed but I don’t know why. It was a really good night until that last bit wasn’t it.”
I hugged her tightly to me. “It’s been a weird night to say the least”.
She asks me to stay in her room with her tonight, which I do, she is my sister, and she needs me, even if she doesn’t know why. In the dead of night, I hear her whisper my name.
“Anna? Anna... are you awake?”
My voice is full of sleep, “yeah, what’s up?”
She doesn’t immediately answer although I hear her attempting to talk but it’s like she can’t find the words to say what is bothering her. “Did you see any of those videos tonight?”
I don’t even consider lying. “I got a couple of glimpses before I looked away... did you?”
She was silent for a minute. “Yes, I did, Anna I’ve never seen anything like it... And the frightening thing is I think I really liked it and hated it at the same time. And I don’t know why.”
I don’t know how to reassure my best friend; It's becoming clear that tonight has overwhelmed and confused her. I hold her hand in mine.
“Well, it’s intriguing isn’t it... mating! But we are raised to not think of it as a pleasurable experience but as a means to convey our love to our fated mate and to produce pups. Whereas those videos really were carnal acts between unmated pack members. I don’t think how you feel is wrong.”
I think back to wolves we know from other packs “Look at your cousin Vada, she told us she had s*x with other men before finding her mate, she said it was fun, a good time if I remember right. I don’t think that changes because our pack values are different, do you?”
She turns on her lamp. “yeah I suppose so, it was just confusing to feel excitement and anger at the same thing. But I guess you’re right. I’m looking forward to mating, but only with ‘the one’”
I rested my heavy head on her shoulder.“Jambo apologised to me, I wasn’t expecting that.”
She laughs a little, “he was probably scared you would break his arm!”
I giggle a little with her. “He said if it doesn’t work out with my fated mate to look him up because he thinks I’m beautiful”.
She looks at me wide eyed. “You’re not going to, are you?”
I look at her in surprise now. “No! Of course, not silly! I don’t see Jambo like that, I appreciate the apology and the compliment but I’m waiting for my Mr Right. You know that.”
She throws a pillow at me, “well I’ve come to the conclusion that my father is right about the Scarlet Moon pack. They do act like a gang of heathens. I think it best for us to keep our distance if we can. And holy Moon Goddess help the woman who is mated to the Alphas brother, she is seriously going to have her work cut out for her!”
I don't disagree, but then how can I tell her that I'm intrigued and fascinated by the Scarlet Moon Alpha?
